I work at a dealership that sales all brands but havent had a chance to ride the 06's yet. Both are great bikes and doubt you could go wrong with either. From the reviews Ive read the honda is a better all around bike and more street friendly. Good luck and dont pay for frieght and prep charges they are bunk and just profit tools along with gap and extended warrenty the F & I guy will hit you up for when you do the paperwork. You should pay around 8500 plus tax and that is all. 8500 is a fair deal for you and dealership.

Buy the one that you can't take your eyes off of.



You'll never ride either one near it's limits on the street.



If you don't get the one that makes you drool (R6 anyone?) you'll wish you had it everytime someone else rides by.



(I need to stop ending my sentences with prepositions lest the nuns crack me across the knuckles)

ZX-6R

More displacement..636cc..Lots of pretty colors and good price.. Seriously, the ZX-6R is a great bike..My 01 has been flawless. 27000 miles.

I've read that the R6 is better track than street, a little shakey in the front at high speeds, but sounds like a freakin' missile!



CBR's are more forgiving in their handling. Maybe not quite as exciting but you should be able to thread it through the twisties faster than on the R6.

I am not sure "comfortable and smooth on streets" applies to either one of these bikes. But seems your mind is set on these two bikes. R6 for me, though personally I'd get an SV650 or Z750 as far as smooth and comfy goes.

You may want to do what you can to sit on them or speak to more people. Both are physically small bikes. If you're 5'6", doesn't matter. If you're closer to 6', you should look further. Even the Suzuki 600 is larger than these. I also think the Triumph 675 would be a better street bike.

This is the sort of bloody nonsense up with which I will not put.



The R6 looks better but I'm too tall for it; my knees hit above the bump in the tank. I'm between 6'2 and 6'3. The CBR fits me great. This has caused me to start believing that the CBR looks better.

I have not rid the new one but the previous generation R6 was by far the most comfy. And yamaha still sells it except with old style fork... on the street i bet it is faster than peakier new R6.

thanks for your comments. I tried contacting the dealers... I can get a honda out the door at 9100 and Yamaha is not so available ( I wanted the yellow color )and available at 10,999.. that's a good price difference. but Yamaha looks way too cool than honda.. I am more confused :D



I sat on both, and they both feel similar, not sure about longer rides though. I am 5' 10"

I've seen serious price reductions on 2005 models already. $11K for a 600 is fricking ridiculous. Check around.

I own the 06 R6 Raven (Black) and have owned over two dozen bikes in my 36 year riding history. This bike does it for me like no other. Besides looking awesome it performs like a real race bike in stock trim. Sure it is down on low end power for sake of higher HP numbers but I have no trouble riding it on the street. The power is definately two stroke like but I have ridden many two strokes like Cr480's and 500's so it doesn't bother me a lick. I traded in my 02 R1 for this bike. The way this bike is geared I can roll of the line and pin it all the way up to 80 mph in first and then it's a quick shift fest up to 6th. The bike literally wants to shoot out from underneath you and it can be difficult to roll off the throttle so you better be ready to upshift, hit the rear brake or pull in the clutch or you will overshoot everything.

The bike loves to be in between 10 and 16 grand where it makes all it's power. Since it makes it's 111 rwhp at 14,600 I have the shift light set at 15,500 to compensate for the 9% error that Yamaha made in the tach's accuracy.

The Dunlop Qualifiers are working very well and are holding up good in the wear dept. I get alot of people asking me about the bike and lots of thumbs up.

I was carving down the Kern canyon between Lake Isabella and Bakersfield Ca. and pushing her pretty hard and in one corner the front tire got a little twitch that has got me ready to put on a steering stabilizer. It does need one and that is my only complaint about the bike. For the money I paid it should come with one.

I know that some people hate the look of the silencer but I like it and it makes a great sound from right off idle all the way up. The fly by wire throttle is also very cool and it works well by holding the rpm's right where you want them in the turns and responsive to all my input.

I looked at all the bikes before I commited to the R6 and truthfully I like them all. I could have gone with any one of them and been happy. I looked especially hard at the Honda but in the end it just looked to dated but I know they are reliable and great bikes. You can't go wrong with any of the middleweights. Just follow your heart and buy one.

Think about this. Six months from now will you be thinking;



1) I'm sure glad I paid the extra $$ for the Yamaha - this bike looks so cool.



or



2) I'm sure glad I saved money by buying the Honda and used it to buy my mom that nice Mother's Day present.
