A friend of mine had a Seca way back when we were tads, it could eat my KZ750 twin up one side and down the other, don't know about the 90's version but the early 80's one was pretty cool
1992 Seca 600 vs. 1992 Nighthawk 750
I'm considering two used "naked" or standard style motorcycles. I'm 6' tall - 190 lbs.
Sale price is the same +/- $200.
Nighthawk 15k miles, Seca 25k
Seca has: Vance and Hines 4 to 1 exhaust (will this make it obnoxiously loud?)
Body of Seca is good. Nighthawk has dent on top left of gas tank - something from garage fell and dinged tank.
Handling/safety, reliability, and fuel economy are all important to me.
Any first hand accounts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

CB- tanks are cheap. Older motor design but stonger overall power.
Nighthawk. Without question. Bulletproof engine. Built and improved since the late 70's. Reliable as a stone. Bike competent to do any reasonable job from medium canyon carving to 2-up long distance touring.
Neither bike is a styling success. I'd get the Nighthawk without hesitation.

Go with the Nighthawk you will not regret it. My Nighthawk has 28,000 trouble free miles and keeps on ticking. I have two other bikes that I share time with but the Hawk is always ready for anything I throw at it. Put a set of radial tires on the bike and bump up the rear to a 150/70/17 and it will handle much better.
Nighthawk. The Yamaha tranmission will get sketchy after 30,000 or so miles. I am a Yamaha fan and have had several.
One more thing.
The Nighthawk was in production until recently so parts should be available for a long time to come. The Seca has been out of production for quite a while and parts will be getting problematic soon if not already.Up here in Vermont.. the riding season is slowly coming to an end.
