As to having more squidly video clips, here here! Only, the clips are too small and sound like cr*p! Are you MO guys using some old camcorder ducktaped to the tank? Can ya spare the extra $5 and buy a microphone, tape it close to the engine so we can get more out of the clips than wind noise?

Go watch some real movies with real footage like Grand Prix, Le Mans, and Ronin. Steve McQueen (may he rest in peace) and John Frankenheimer know how to mix fast machinery and video.

Check these guys out. Theyare able to somehow have full-screen movies on their site, and it loads pretty quickly.

What have you guys done to Burns -- "Enough is enough"!?!? The GSXR is the lightest and has the most hp, but from the teases, you all seem to think its between the R1 and the RR? My guess is that on the street GSXR will quite a bit ahead on raw performance especially at ram air speeds (if not for the dang limiter, it'd be *way* ahead on top speed). Things will probably be close on the track and come down to riding style/experience. Will the zen "feel" of the other bikes prevail? How can easiest to ride or nifty ergonomics win an open class comparo? These things are all about flash and dash! The R1 does win the good looking race though, with the GSXR 2nd, and the RR being about as sexy as Tipper Gore. I'll be curious to see the final results, but I'm crafting my scathing "your skirt has flapped around your head" or "your stoopid" comments in advance...

Hey monkey spank, unless you were taking your bike back to Japan and speaking directly with Kawasaki engineers, the manufacturer didn't tell you anything. You were dealing with a sucka$$ dealer and all manufacturers have some sorry dealers.

Every manufacturer has put out bikes that have had some issues. Maybe you forgot about the Gixxer 750's from a few years ago that had a nasty habbit of slamming the pistons into the valves and Suzuki tried to blame it on the riders before installing thicker head gaskets.

So your bike dynoed low, big deal. Unless you were at a very high dollar shop most likely the dyno was off. Besides if you dyno ten bikes you'll find as much as a 10% difference in power output between them.

Carb icing is the least of my concerns in Houston, hell carb icing would be kind of nice in August.

Yes I just bought a leftover 01 and no it's not in the same league as the others in the test, however, there's nothing else out there that can match its performance for the $7999 that I paid for it.

Finally, stop whinning like a little biatch.

Squidly, since you're living up to your nic all I'll add is that I was dealing with Kawasaki USA directly, once the dealer struck out.

And it wasn't just my bike by any means.

I work in the business, mensa, and we know our dynos and the manufacturer's variances from bike to bike.

And since you're agreeing with both me and the test itself concerning the fact that the 9R would've finished last in this comparo (which was my point in the first place, in response to everybody whining that the test was invalid because it didn't include the obvious last place finisher) go ahead and open up a nice steaming can of shut the hell up....

My .02 cents: I'm 41 and have ridden since 12 on the farm starting on a Harley (Aermacchi (Italian) import) X-90.

College saw CL450 and GS550. Northern Calif. Grad school: '83 Nighthawk 650 and '81 GPZ550. Parental independence saw '86 gixxer 750 when they were first unleashed in the States (sold prematurely) and second '86 gix 750. Post- riding hiatus saw a Katana 750. Another hiatus, a Ducati 748 in 2001. (The latter two in N.Georgia Mountains, as in Suches, etc.)

Three weeks ago, along came the '02 gix G. At 5'6" and 170, the Big 'Un plain does it for me. Would never have bought one, but for lengthy ride with a bud who swapped his 1000 for my 748 with me. In the real world, the 1000 is plain sweet. Admittedly, I was intimidated by the magazines/internet. Thought the G would throw me like an irritated stallion. But, the beast can be user friendly, if treated with appropriate respect.

I am an incredible fan. Plan to make this my go-to bike for, hopefully, the next 10 years, even if I do pick up a Ducati 999 in a couple of years, "for fun." The G's engine, ergos (for me), suspension/handling, and . . . maintenance(!) add up to one sensible and way fun mount. Throw on the soft luggage and this honey is taking me to Maine, and hopefully, back to N.Calif. for some reacquaintin'!

I'm beyond trying to impress anyone with my scooter acquisition. I wasn't looking for "Biggest and Baddest." As Hackfu wrote, I chose this bike "for me."

BUT, after putting a few miles on her, I must admit that it's kind of fun having the biggest and baddest. Again, not for anyone else but for the laughter I hear inside my helmet when I'm on the Superslab or on Wolf Pen Gap Road (Suches) ;-) trolling or blasting along all by myself. Never felt this kind of power in 5th and 6th gears.

Try it yourself and make the best decision for you.
