FP! I've always wondered about the lack of press coverage. I went to the Metrodome in February for the races, there was at least 35,000 people there. The local paper listed the results in the fine print, next to the NBA box scores. When the WNBA Lynx (or our professional soccer team) play and draw 1500 fans, it gets a story on the front page of the sports section. Anyone have an explanation for the lack of mainstream media coverage? Or is it covered in other areas of the country?

I've had the same complaint about local coverage of motorcycle events. Just try to find a story in the papers about motorcycle races, unless someone dies its not covered.

I have even sent letters to the editors, and to the sports page race coverage reporter, imploring them to cover the races. They sent polite letters back saying something like "thank you for your inquiry. We unfortunatly do not have the staff, or the space to devote to any aditional event coverage...."

Stoped subscribing to the local papers.

Our local biweekly actually did a pretty good article on the Budds Creek National, but the WashingtonD.C. and Baltimore papers had Nada. Motorcycles just arent considered mainstream for most Americans...we're still on the fringe

I agree completely, took my 15 year old daughter to Red Bud this summer, what a great venue, and what a great day. The part about being able to walk around all day, see all the corners, all the jumps is just fantastic. Went to a Nascar Race a few years ago (Brickyard), what a bore! Could almost see them coming out of turn 4 and then they zoom by, towards turn 1. And being able to walk and go anywhere, when the action on ther track stops between motos, the people whatching is fantastic. It's no wonder the crowds keep growing.
