Looks like it was a prop for Logan's Run.

Re: Paint it how you want.

It isn't unique in any way, shape or form. It's a Kawasaki with a Triumph badge. Get over it. End of story. Why did Yossef say the British copied the Japanese? Does he get it? Why did you agree with Seruzawa that it was a copy? Were you lying then or lying now? If you think this isn't a copy then you are consistent in your delusions. No, everyone that makes a V-Twin doesn't copy Harley. Ducati didn't. Aprilia didn't. MotoGuzzi didn't. Only companies that said it was an "inferior design" and then base half their models on Harley styled bikes with V-Twins (guess who did this). The "superior" inline four got shoved aside when Harley started making a boatload of cash on that "inferior" design. Please stop justifying why the British copied a Japanese design, used boatloads of Japanese parts on it, got Japanese engineering help, and then wave the Union Jack over it and suddenly it's British. Sorry, I'm smarter than that.

Re: Racing Triumphs?

Really? I hadn't heard. Good for them, but I am not too sure that it is the best idea to attack the Japanese right at their strength. Ballsy move, though.

I still think that Kawi's lead with bore/stoke jobs on 600's is a great idea that others will follow.
Re: Some folks don't get cable

Milwaukee? What does that have to do with anything.

In addition to helping you with your name problem, an experienced therapist might be able to teach you to cope with your various insecurities. Truly, and I say this with love and respect, you need to seek help.
Re: Making motorcycles is not rocket science: maybe to Harley and US management it is

"It takes gut and commitment something Harley doesn't have."

Do you know how stupid that statement is? You're talking about a company that was on the brink of bankruptcy 20 years ago, was bought out by its senior executives and has been wildly successful in the past 15 years. No guts or committment? Tell that to Vaughn Beals. They've been through the valley of the shadow of death and have emerged into the sunlight in a very strong position. Is that so terrible?

Harley is not committed to building 600cc 4-cylinder supersports because that's not their market. They make classic-looking cruisers and touring bikes. And they are the best at it. They are an icon and easy for you to attack.

Get over yourself Paul.

See my above reply.
Re: Paint it how you want.

Herein is the difference between you and the guy who buys these- to YOU, there is no difference, but to the squid who wants to brag about owning the latest, greatest 600, those couple of pounds/horsepower might as well be fifty.
Re: Making motorcycles is not rocket science: maybe to Harley and US management it is

touring bikes?

Are those the ones I pass, on the trailer, being towed by the ford truck with the Harley badge on it?
I like Kawasaki's styling too.
Re: Paint it how you want.

You forgot to mention that the styling of the Kawasaki that Triumph copied here was a knockoff itself from Yamaha's R6/R1 styling, which makes the Daytona a knockoff of a knockoff.
Re: Paint it how you want.

Were I in the market for a new 600cc sport bike this would be the one.

Their target market is smaller. Triumph's appeal is... it's not Japanese. The older rider doesn't care about horsepower bragging rights he just wants a bike he likes. Even so $300 and 15lbs is nothing. Hell Ducati's sell at 90% cost differential and the numbers are lower. Yet they keep winning sbk.

Now admittedly the target market for 600cc sport bikes is the young squid, who sees the stats as a reflection of how fast HE can go. There must be an age where the brain switches on and you quit caring about the stats.

We'll see how far this strategy gets Triumph. I'm 100% sure this bike will sell better than last year's model.

Right Harley gets a tarrif against the Japanese and lives happily ever after. Execuse me Harley makes the motorcycle equivalent of a 57 Chevy (only new of couse)
Re: Some folks don't get cable

Touchy. You would be an expert on therapy huh?
Re: Racing Triumphs?

I agree that Kawasaki's approach of covering both bases with minimal additional investment makes a lot of sense -- the 600cc version for racing, produced in relatively limited numbers, and with a few other trick parts that don't make economic sense for purely street use (like Kawasaki's slipper clutch) is probably the way to go, and I bet that others will follow.

I also question the ecomomic sense of Triumph tackling Japan Inc square-on in their prime market, but I give them credit for having the balls! I am curious how their sales numbers will stack up.

Bob
Re: Making motorcycles is not rocket science: maybe to Harley and US management it is

I have made that dig (in a joking manner) a few times myself, but seriously, I believe that Harley have a clear lead in sales of touring bikes currently.

I have to say that having made several 1000+ mile car trips in the western US in the past month or so, Harley's clearly make up the biggest share of the bikes I see on the open road, followed by BMW, then GoldWings. And I don't include those bikes I see on trailers.

Cheers

Bob
I bet you pick the women you date based solely on their measurements.

"Damn, that Jennifer has a great personality, is bright, charming and interesting, not to mention pretty, but she has only a 35" bust, while Sonja is a bit dull, smells bad and has acne, but she does have that 36" chest! Gotta go for that little extra bit of tit."

Gotta go for the numbers!

Well, since the average rider, say like you, is at least 35 pounds overweight, then the 4 pound bike weight difference is moot, isn't it?

Heh heh.

Just kidding.
In that case I vote for Monica Bellucci. You get beauty, brains and the numbers.

How can you beat that?
Re: Paint it how you want.

Oh, knock it off!
Re: Go read Burns Harley Book Review its a great description on the Harley

Hey, moron. Stop pushing that crap. Harley got a three year special tariff because the Japanese were dumping in the U.S. market. Do you know what dumping is, idiot? It's when a company does what the Japanese were doing... selling bikes below cost in the U.S. by charging higher prices elsewhere. The govt will act to protect any business that can show cause. Even the one you work for.

The Japanese got busted and buned back then. Too bad for them. So, blame them.

Actually, I'd prefer to see the US put the exact same requirements on Japanese products that they do on ours. Then listen to the whiners cry.
Re: Go read Burns Harley Book Review its a great description on the Harley

Paul, every conversation with you always comes back to Harley bashing. I don't even own a Harley and you make me cringe with your drivel. I'm done with you. BSing about bikes is supposed to be fun...and you suck all the joy out of it for me.
