Send one of the girls, after all, Burns thinks that 60hp is enough in a 700lb BMW....Ah, just kidding, have fun in Spain! Ya know, I hear in Spain you can't get Spanish food. They just call it food...
Which is a different bike. So what if it uses the same technology, that extra 400cc's of the R1 would give different characteristics. Lots of low-end torque versus a peaky motor... Or maybe you've already written the test report and you are just going to Spain to provide the photos for the article. Hey if the weather changes on you, just do a find and replace in Word and substitute in wet for dry, cold for hot...Look, of course I'm not being serious but you really shouldn't come to any conclusions on how a machine works w/o actually riding it.
www.motogp.com has a video/sound clip on testing of the new Ducati GP bike. I know what you mean about the sound! Like doom. Also it's fun to say "desmodici" and "testastretta"
Re: Man, 22 Sets Record for Crashing New Sportbike

I thought the common thread that they have was that they had crashed. no?
Looks like have a bunch of unpaid experts. It's not going to be that much different. Give these guys a break. If you know anything you should know that with the smaller displacement it's going to be even smoother than the R1. I like the articles these guys write.

very nicely done....keep 'em coming
Re: Flame job

Or maybe you geniuses could look at the top of the page and click on the picture of the R6 with flames and look at the full siz pic right here at MO.

Upside down forks.

Nope, you're right on the money there.

So why would the bike be smoother with a smaller engine? You obviously seem to know so I await your reply.
Improvments

Salut g-bear!

Get your hide on any R6, twist the throttle, hit a few miles of twisty tarmac, brake hard a few times.

You'll understand that anything better than thoses 99-02 R6 "IS" something out of the ordinary.

Looks even better than what I considered the best looking machine out there.

Ciao!

The shorter duration higher lift cams and FI should allow more top end with much improved midrange hp and response. Also the exhausts now contains a catalyzer which limits hp. It should gain 3 or 4 hp once the can is replace.
Re: Man, 22 Sets Record for Crashing New Sportbike

Well.........yeah, that too. ;-)
Beautiful Glad to see no racer boy graphics. The best buy in motorcycles (600s) gets

... better. Love to see the way Kawasaki and Yamaha are bringing out bikes with no graphic decals. If the bike is well designed it will look good with out the gimics and stripes.
It's just the natural evolution of the UJM ... now we have the UJS.
OK, why do the UK sites (including yamaha-motor.co.uk) say the thing makes 123 HP @ 13000 with ram air? Does that mean they're guessing/exaggerating the effect of ram air at speed, and the number in the article is the actual crank HP figure?
Damn, hate to see you suffer. Tell ya what - I'll share your suffering. Just give me the money (or the Daytona - I'd kill myself with the Gixxer)
They can't produce it on a static dyno. They have to blast air at it to get the extra hp. Neither 120 nor 123 will be available at the wheels.
I think the throttle by wire may be farther away then you think. I believe that the little advantage gained would be over shadowed by the cost.
