Re: Put it this way

"Hint: We dropped Air Cooled V-Twins and Saddle Bags onto each of them then snuck them out from under the protective gaze of thier respective manufacturers" I know where this going.

Enough of this Political Correctness

Enough of this crying in your beards. My mom's family is Irish. Came over during the Potato famine and settled in Okla. later Texas. My wife's family same thing but no Texas move. My paternal Grand dad was stiff assed Brit who never had a bad word to say about the Irish. Most of my jokes about Irish come from my Mom and her side. They take no offense. I worked with a Software company, Iona, which is based in Dublin. All of those guys loved Irish drinking jokes and off color IRA jokes. Hey if you can't laugh at yourself you are dead in my opinion. Lighten up dudes er lads.

Überbike

I don't know: why do other manufacturers bother competing with Honda? It's like German soccer: don't bother besting Bavaria Munich. They're just the best out there and others should be happy that Honda lets them race for second place.

This is, of course, not considering da bomb bike of this millenium: The (my) 2004 Aprilia RSV1000R Factory. It is the inevitable Überbike and doesn't need a comparo. Perfection cannot be outdone. Ohmegawd, here I come again....

Yawn, sniff, removed eye boogers, scratch naughty bits, urinate, oh boy... another year, another totally new sport bike that's well suited for track use... I don't ride on track but real streets, go back to sleep until Motorcycle Consumer News arrives.

Re: I was born and raised in Ireland and...

Having spent my youth growing up in NY, I was quite familiar with the Irish-Americans, and liked them just fine. But I didn't get a true appreciation until I spent about 10 days on the Emerald Isle a year ago. I have only good things to say about the Irish. The women are gorgeous. Blondes, red heads, even "black Irish" brunettes, all with lovely blue eyes and down to earth attitudes. The men are fun to hang out with. They all love to drink but generally hold their alchohol well and don't get drunk (or fight) nearly as much as their Irish-American brethren, whose reputation for said behavior is well-deserved, at least where I grew up (sorry PC police, but I gotta call it like I see it and I've got plenty of witnesses). From the city to the country most everyone is genuinely friendly and good natured. Did I mention the women are gorgeous? Oh yeah, I guess I did, huh?

It won't be...

If you are ham-fisted, a bike in this class won't tolerate ya...

If you want a sportbike which can tolerate ham-fistedness a bit better, get a Falco, VFR, Sprint RS, or similar Touring Sportbike.

You dated my ex, too?

At this point, I've given up on sportbikes. At 6'5" and 250 lbs, they're all moving in the wrong direction in terms of being comfortable. I wonder if I could get Kawasaki to sell me a 10R sans frame, so I could build one that fit me.

Probably cheaper to go buy a new GSXR from the store, strip it out and sell the frame on ebay to some kid that wadded his. Heck, between the frame and the plastic, I might make most of my money back.

Hang in there Dave. Our long awaited test of the tensile strength of the new Shoei chinstrap along all stressed fibers is coming soon. In the meantime maybe you can thumb through a scintillating edition of the Clymer manual to help pass the time. I hear the 1999 Honda Rebel has a wicked plot twist towards the end!!!

Re: Überbike

German soccer is like everything else German, they certainly THINK they're the best

Man. United even without Beckham or Liverpool could hand them their asses any day of the week.

Going with your Italian theme, I'd bet on Roma or Milan`over any German team. The Germans are legends in their own minds only.

County Antrim is, of course the home of the Old Bushmills distilliary and therefore chosen by God his'sef as a holy place.

Likewise the Guinness brewery in Dublin

I know this has been said before but when they come out with 365 new models per year, you'll get a new test and review every day. In the meantime, as the guys who get to do the actual testing and reviewing (WOO HOO!!!), we're chomping at the bit more than any of you. Trust me!

BTW, thanks for the kudos!

I guess I should throw out the stereotype about the Irish having thick skin? Or that one about them keeping the rest of the world on the defensive? From the Micks I've known, they hold it up pretty well.
