I read somewhere that Victory will introduce a naked sport bike along the lines of the Yamaha MT-O1 and also a fully-faired sportbike, both possibly within the year. Anyone hear anything similar?

Oh yeah, first post! Woo hoo!

And there was much rejoicing.

Well said! I am with you on this one. To my eyes the Victory looks fresh clean and uncluttered. The high-tech engine (compared to Harley) definitely is a big plus
"an obvious Harley clone"

The only clones I see are the hordes of "independant" spirits all out there buying Harleys.

what a whack job. Any naked v-twin with an emphasis on chrome and paint must seem like a clone to you. And it's not like H-D was the original v-twin either. So by your standards then H-D is a clone too.

Don't think like a clone.

You are wrong mscuddy Fuji is partner of Polaris not owner

"longtime supplier partners Fuji Heavy Industries (an engine supplier since the late-1960s) "see Click here
mscuddy works for Harley

His bit on Fuji and Polaris is wrong. Fuji is a partner of Polaris. Polaris is a independent company whose stock is traded in the U.S. As him how much he gets from Harley to spread crap.
"It mimiks the entire "custom" Harley ideal" What another load of HD brainwashed crap! The typical custom Harley ideal today is riding over to that HD store and buying another official HD piece of chrome to bolt on so you can look just like the rest. Custom??? That's like adding those OEM aluminum alloy wheels to your chevy truck as an option and calling it custom. That's why I use the term brainwashed, you guys would love HD no matter how far they ask you to bend over. LOL BTW - if Chevy charged 80% more for their trucks than Toyota or Ford would you buy it just because you thought you would cool in your Chevy Truck? Guess so
Excellent Point

- "if Chevy charged 80% more for their trucks than Toyota or Ford would you buy it just because you thought you would cool in your Chevy Truck? " Excellent point, kind of says it all
I went to the junkyard to get an engine to replace the blown one in my Magna. Only $200 plus what's left of the old one.

Didn't see a single Harley in ther junkyard. Or Triumph. Just row after row of superior Japanese motorcycles.
Only proves his point further.

That's because there are too many suckers buying the old ones. The truth is Harley owners like longride rebuild parts of the engine throught the bike's lifetime. i.e The Chevy owner throughs a new engine in it and its back to blissful city.
Re:

Stop making me laugh! I'm trying to provide content for all you whiners.
Re: Only proves his point further.

Here's soemthing you never learned while you studied Marx and Keynes:

The true value of any commodity is merely the value that the buyers place on it. Something is only worth what the public is willing to pay for it.

Value is determined in that fashion. Value is not determined by the worthless opinions of arrogant elitists like you or maxrider.

The real suckers buy new Japanese motorcycles.
Re: Only proves his point further.

Hey I admire you old geezers who appreciate old things. In this disposable economy it is refreshing to see guys fixing up Harleys etc. Yes Japanese bikes currently don't have any appeal to collectors and long term bike owners. However, that doesn't mean they won't in the future. Some of it is matter of numbers i.e. how many UJMs were sold? I can see a day when the VMax, Rune, Valkarie etc are collectibles. But I think you have to agree that Harley's currently have an inflated value due to the Brotherhood thing and nostalgia not due to ground breaking technology or styling.
Re: Only proves his point further.

You really are a walking solipsism, aren't you.

Value is set simply by what people are willing to pay for something. The opinions of arrogant elitists, Fed chairmen, welfare statists and the like are illlusory.

So, go ahead and fill your backyard with CBRYZGSXZX's and wait for them to become "collector's items". Bill's Boneyard, where I get parts for Japanese bikes, is chock full of those valuable "collector's items".
Re: Only proves his point further.

Throwing pearls before swine again seruzawa? VWW
Re: Only proves his point further.

Hey BMW4Play go work on your old volvo, I am having a discussion here.
Re: Only proves his point further.

I'm conducting an experiment.
Re: Ah Ha!

If Fuji makes Polaris's engines then that would explain why the engine in my Polaris snowmobile is the only part of it that's never caused any trouble.
Re: Only proves his point further.

Ok let the lessons begin, your quote:

"I mean, why buy an obvious Harley clone, when you can buy the real thing?"

The real thing??? See your brainwashed into thinking there is only one MC Mfg. Clueless, look around there are many. Now in your words tell me why it's wrong to buy something better just because someone else said but hey look over here this overpriced snob apeal bike is "the real thing"

Another lesson Mr. scholar:

Again your quote:

"The true value of any commodity is merely the value that the buyers place on it. Something is only worth what the public is willing to pay for it. Value is determined in that fashion."

You are discussing monetary value only. I don't care what your willing to overpay for. There is another value just called plain value, as in worth. This is where HD fails. You can get bikes worth more for less money elsewhere. Get it???
