The only clones I see are the hordes of "independant" spirits all out there buying Harleys.
what a whack job. Any naked v-twin with an emphasis on chrome and paint must seem like a clone to you. And it's not like H-D was the original v-twin either. So by your standards then H-D is a clone too.

The typical custom Harley ideal today is riding over to that HD store and buying another official HD piece of chrome to bolt on so you can look just like the rest. Custom??? That's like adding those OEM aluminum alloy wheels to your chevy truck as an option and calling it custom. That's why I use the term brainwashed, you guys would love HD no matter how far they ask you to bend over. LOL BTW - if Chevy charged 80% more for their trucks than Toyota or Ford would you buy it just because you thought you would cool in your Chevy Truck? Guess so

That's because there are too many suckers buying the old ones. The truth is Harley owners like longride rebuild parts of the engine throught the bike's lifetime. i.e The Chevy owner throughs a new engine in it and its back to blissful city.

Here's soemthing you never learned while you studied Marx and Keynes:
The true value of any commodity is merely the value that the buyers place on it. Something is only worth what the public is willing to pay for it.
Value is determined in that fashion. Value is not determined by the worthless opinions of arrogant elitists like you or maxrider.

Hey I admire you old geezers who appreciate old things. In this disposable economy it is refreshing to see guys fixing up Harleys etc. Yes Japanese bikes currently don't have any appeal to collectors and long term bike owners. However, that doesn't mean they won't in the future. Some of it is matter of numbers i.e. how many UJMs were sold? I can see a day when the VMax, Rune, Valkarie etc are collectibles. But I think you have to agree that Harley's currently have an inflated value due to the Brotherhood thing and nostalgia not due to ground breaking technology or styling.

So, go ahead and fill your backyard with CBRYZGSXZX's and wait for them to become "collector's items". Bill's Boneyard, where I get parts for Japanese bikes, is chock full of those valuable "collector's items".

You are discussing monetary value only. I don't care what your willing to overpay for. There is another value just called plain value, as in worth. This is where HD fails. You can get bikes worth more for less money elsewhere. Get it???
