Note that the air-cooled Buell meets new emission standards without a catalytic converter. A function of the higher operating temperature?

You can make a good street machine out of a GSXR is you mount higher wider handlebars, lower the pegs, drop the countershaft sprocket a tooth..... hey wait a second, don't we already call this a Speed Triple?

Re: Razor Sharp my butt...

Don't forget that the Japanese always grossly underreport the weight in the ad copy. They usually neglect to include things like the battery anf tires when they give their claimed "dry weight".

Add another 75 lbs.

Back in the 60's the Ducati 250s got more powerful each year in the Berliner ad copy. Starting at about 24HP by 1968 they had 30HP! During this time Ducati made no engine changes at all. If Berliner was still in business, who knows? Those bikes might have 212HP by now.

As metallurgy improves over time new materials may be strong enough to surpass earlier limits. Still, one might want to see just how well the new engine holds up before laying down 8+ large for one.

At one time it was considered "impossible" to build a two-stroke of greater than 250cc displacement.

Self-defense!

No. They'll just have the govt offer free self-defense classes.

"What do you do when attacked by a man carrying a bunch of grapes?"

"We already did the grapes."

"What if he's got a pointed stick?"

"SHUTUP!"

Re: Self-defense!

If you wanna pick the Big4 company that prides itself on making its bikes as difficult to work on as possible ya gotta go with Honda. In my experince Hondas are most likely to require more special tools and more complex procedures than anyone.

I've never owned a Beemer, so I can't vouch for those.

Kawasaki has been the easiest for me in general of the big4.

Nothing is as easy to work on as Harleys..... and a good thing too!! I can get all the parts I need by following Buz or longride around with a net.

It seems that the part about allowing the free expression of religion has been cancelled.

Re: Yama sucks.

Spend 4 years futzing with a Mercedes diesel and you'll never complain about vehicles again!! To replace the heater/ac blower you gotta remove the dashboard. To remove the dashboard you gotta remove the freakin' windshield!

Makes my Magna look like a mechano's delight.

I almost bought one of those CBR1000F's like yours (a '95) a few years ago, but the cheap shyt dealer wouldn't throw in new tires ( the ones on the bikes were on the wear marks). I got a Suzuki GSX1100G instead. I do like the Honda though. With bar risers it's near perfect. Oh well.
