Your math looks right

(15,500 rev/min)*(2 * 44.5)(mm/rev)*(1m/1000mm)*(1ft/.305m)=~4526 i get 4523 but close enough.

Who says that 526ft/min is the safe limit? and Why? What is the limiting factor?

You are right traditionally high reving engines were thought to require short stroke. Sean and I had a arguement on this point once. I always thought the valve train was the limiting factor he argued it was the supposed fragileness of a long rod (bending moment)which I thought could be overcome with the right materials....since the relative difference in lengths is minimal.... But I am not a mechanical engineer though I took a junior level ME mechanics of materials class for any easy A. EEs (ampheads) are always smarter than MEs (gearheads)

The real person to ask is sport_bike pilot.

Excellent point and Good discussion

It's the acceleration that is key. I didn't go with these guys cause many laymen don't understand the relationship between Force and acceleration (F=ma) and I agrued with Sean about that but he didn't understand the difference i.e. something at extreme velocity could have zero accelearation thus 0 forces acting on it. I argued that the valve train the float/orverlap thing was the issue. Several discussions in Cycle World discussed why Harley engines couldn't rev high and it was the valve train that was the problem pushroads and valve float.

There you go again not reading what I say.

I am a Republican (McCain type). I don't like deficits or stupid wars and support the concept of sepearation of church and state. Gay marriages are OK and I don't care if you believe in God or not. I do believe in God but I won't force my beliefs on you nor will I judge you.. But I think there has to be a government watch dog so I am not a libertarian. I am also pro Gun and pro life . I just think Bush is incompetent.

The Constitution for Dummies and the Kept Man (egg_beater)

First Amendment to U.S. Constitution

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Man you can't even spell it right egg_beater

Be your own man.

It wasn't inferior. You guys switched the argument on me. You called me a liberal and I gave you evidence i am not. You are the pathetic one, you are always the 5th wheel on these threads i.e. the uninvited wacko who has a pathetic sense of economic and political reality. mile_eater has the same 5th wheel thing going on =====desperate for acceptance from the likes of longride, Sean, etc. My advice to you is to be your own man. I think no one would ever say that I am not.
