Would these news beat the news that in Paris yesterday Suzuki anounced 1300cc Busa-engined naked Suzuki B-King going into production and will be on sale in 2007?

Or that new GSXR1000 with 3-way-programmed ECU "Wet, Sport, Normal" alike traction control anounced, or that all-new water cooled Bandit 1250 anounced?

:)

I sincerely hope it is all truth - I found those news in reports about Suzuki press conf. in Paris on 21st. That makes waiting for October 9 even more interesting - Honda expected to reveal 2007 lineup on Intermot then...

GBPT? I do not have a ponytail. To paraphrase tricky **** "I am not a dork"

However, I did notice another R1150RT in my neighborhood and the rider also has a grey beard.

Anyway, thanks for the comments. They were quite good.

Don't you understand that it doesn't matter that you never said those things? You are simply a Bush loving, Fox news watcher that can't figure anything out. It's all 4 bucks a gallon gasoline, biodiesel future with 600cc inline four sportbikes dumbass! Can't you get with the program?

Good piece MO! Big Scoots are not all that different from motorcycles and who needs to get all snobby anyway. Very practical, affordable alternative for someone interested in everyday transportation. I've seen them on the freeway too, either the 400 or 650, easily holding their own, purring along quietly.

I'd agree on the fun factor being greater on a lot of motorcycles but try hauling a couple bags of groceries on most motorcycles. And passenger comfort is probably much better on a Burghman than most motorcycles, even without the backrest.

I have it on good authority that the PC will hold two (2) 10lb bags of ice, a 6-pack of Fat Tire, a 12-pack of Corona (bottles), and a 12-pack of Bud Light (cans). Mix well, and by the time you get back up the mountain from Dahlonega to Suches, there's the makings for a good start to a party.................

Well, I'm not ready to pull out the Buco lid and London Fog Jacket (ye olde english intitials in white over navy blue field- 'natch!) just yet, but.....

The stats near the ft of the article tickled what lately passes for my brain. Could those buyer profiles be the answer to the question I was not asking? That question being the automated clutch FJR13?

One of the print mags - I forget which - in a now rapidly dimming past, occasionally had comments from an industry analyst (Don Brown??). Here you go, Dr. Staff...hows about a nice, short article where someone who is in the know about coming big picture changes is interviewed. I'd prefer an analyst not in direct employ of any mfg. What are the trends, demographics, changes, etc?

I'll make another comment about scooters and MO to explain my point of view, then I'll shut up about it. I don't think it is so much about snobbery about scooters, although I do think scooters are just dumbed down motorcycles, basically a transportation appliance.

I see MO as an enthusiasts' website. I can't complain about an occasional scooter review, but the editor says a lot more scooter content is coming. To me, it is like a website dedicated to high performance cars suddenly deciding to do a bunch of stories on mini-vans because somebody notices a lot of them are being sold.

I know decisions about what stories to run are business decisions. I know MO's time and resources are limited, so the more space spent on scooter stuff means less on other motorcycle content. I see, based on the responses, there are 4 or 5 people interested in more scooter content. I look at people putting around on scooters, and I wonder how much they spend on website or magazine subscriptions. Just because a lot of scooters are being sold doesn't necessarily mean there are a lot of people reading about them. A lot of microwave ovens are sold, too, but even Consumer Reports only writes about them every couple of years or so.

Anyway, I am not too worried about it. I just resubscribed for another year today. I hope you take the feedback in the spirit intended.

Snort!

Dude! You made me cough coffee on my supernaturally crisp blue dockers! Good thing they are also stain resistant!

Dockers are also useful for gearhead engineers with a habit of going out into the shop. (like me)

I got rained on going to the gym yesterday morning. Too close to being there to stop and put on my overpants, so I got wet legs. Hang up my dockers, do my workout, and they were dry and crisp by the time I was out of the shower and ready to go to the office.

Ofreen, as a scooter and motorcycle enthusiast I can tell you that all of my scooter budies spend a lot of time on scooter and motorcycle related sites and read scooter/motorcycle magazines. Also, most of the scooter guys I know are like me, in that they own and ride motorcycles too, so that would explain it.

BTW, my kitted to the max 4 speed Stella aint no dumbed down transportation device. It's actually a bad a$$ hooligan machine that is a blast and a challenge to ride well.

People will hop up anything, an activity I find admirable. But in a way, you've kind of proved my point. In order to make your scooter interesting, you had to mod it. I wasn't kidding too much in my other post about abusing them. Whenever I've ridden a scooter, I've get the irresistible urge to wring its neck. Otherwise, its a snooze. Even then, the limitations of the thing make it get old pretty quickly.

Anyway, hotrodded scooters ain't what MO's articles have been about. They are about stock commuter scooters.

Chalk one up in favor of real motorcycling- using two wheels to get around instead of four. I'm glad MO gets it. Perhaps it is time for another poseur, scraping the pegs things for those who need enhancement, but I'm glad to see us old farts getting some attention.
