Of course! A manly, Harley Davidson Shovelhead -n- Knuck riding, beer drinkin' and puking in the pickup when ya drive me home, sort of way. Gotta Marlboro?

BTW: what happened to that beer you were going to buy me in Daytona? Drank them all yourself, no doubt.
I wanted to hook up with ya, but got caught up in all the stuff happening and actually did some things my wife wanted to do. I am sorry I missed you guys. I'll buy next time down. :-D

If you should blow 3 trillion, would you rather buy 120 million Honda Runes or try to bring democracy to Iraq?

Iraq is obviously the sensible shoes choice. Otherwise there would be just too many Runes. Wall-Mart greeters would give them free for shoppers. Old ladies with plastic bags would rip through the hedges and billboards. It would be absolute carnage.

BMW prices don't SEEM relatively more expensive in the US they ARE more expensive. The US buyers... especially the younger buyers that BMW is trying to court.... don't give a flying donut hole how much BMW charges for bikes in Finland. Trust me on this. They go into the showroom floor and see a heavier slower bike than a 'Busa that costs $3K more otd and costs a LOT more in dealer maintenance costs... then you see them a few days later on a 'Busa.
Completely agree. i LOVE the BMW XCountry, love it. beautiful bike, good manageable power comfortable to sit on and I LIKE it. But, and its a big but, its too freakin expensive! $7500 for a 650 thumper? I can get a Triumph Scrambler for $8000 thats (in my opinion) more comfortable, has about 3 more hp but a flatter power curve, still a beautiful bike.

So why is a 650 thumper $7500 and a 900 twin $8000? or an even better question is why is the Xcountry $7500 and a KLR is $5300? $2200 for what?!

Oy, i like the BMWs but not for over $2k

You're not the only one to make these same arguments about BMW's pricing. I've a friend of mine owns the local BMW Dealership that outlined pretty-much the same thing to me several months before the release of these bikes.

wow, a beamer dealer that said that? everybody i know thats gone to bmw dealers has gotten **** like "their better." and when asked why the dealer scoffs at them and wont answer the question.
Well, he still drinks the "Superior Engineering" Kool-Aid, but acknowledges that BMW has been less-than-helpful when there was a REAL problem {koff!} idlesurge {/koff!}. Also, some parts of the "new business-model" he didn't like at all. And, he's reallly concerned with BMW's pricing, as compared to other bikes. ESPECIALLY if BMW want to attract a new audience to their show.........

(as one of the "dissenters in the ranks", he's always worried that BMWNA will suddenly decide they don't need this location any more)

BMW dealers for the most part have always been arrogant pricks. When I rode them in the 80's I loved the bikes but I just had to grit my teeth and bite my tongue dealing with them for service while it was under warranty. They certainly haven't changed in my experiance

To be totally honest, most of the bikes i've really liked over the years have been BMWs, F650, R1150, R1200C. But, their prices are... high and it seems like alot of BMW owners are rude as well. Heres a head scratcher, Duke hypermotard is what $11,000? BMW Megamoto is what $20,520? for what? 20hp?

I wonder when BMW is going to price themselves right out of the US.

Daytona attendence down?

Having lived here thru at least 10 years of Bike Weeks I can only say that if the event is floundering,it is the fault of the City Fathers. They have singlehandedly chipped away at the foundation of Bike Week. The Harley Shop on Beach Street,ECT. Like every other tourist town they can't agree on what they want. Family only events, another Mouse town, or reality. the reality being what brings in the money.
