Time was the SV650 was the best bang for the buck around. The new Yammerhammer might change everything.

That would be my vote. The 8k price point demands it.
Good, that leaves us time to do some other fun projects we'll be bringing soon...

Throw an upgraded Hawk GT and 550 GPZ in the mix and it's the '80's all over again, with the big 4 going at it tooth and nail.

Should we wait for the FZ-09...?
I was just going to go on here and say that. When I saw the last comment of the article mentioned Honda and Kawasaki without Yamaha's also $7999 naked, I thought it was worth mentioning it. Considering Suzuki is heavier (446lbs compared to 414), less powerful (~65hp compared to 115), ho-hum brakes (290mm 2-pistons instead of 298mm 4-pistons)... I'd imagine it's going to be not too dissimilar from your V Star 1300 Deluxe and FJR1300 comparison, where Yamaha walks away with a clear and obvious victory making its competition look barely that further cementing Yamaha as the most interesting and best-value brand out of Japan.

If the brakes are the weakest link, a quick trip to SVRacingParts.com will fix it. They have a caliper adapter kit to mount Flea-Bay 4-pot Nissins or Tokicos. And a radial-mount master cylinder too, if you want to go that far. It made the Vee's brakes an order of magnitude better for under $300.

Did Suzuki advise if the dipstick who picked "Gladius" has been released from his cell yet?

Wow. I've been looking for a caliper adapter kit for my Suzuki M50 and never found one. I would've gone with a Jaybrake caliper, but they're a mite expensive. I believe this might be the solution. I'll have to recheck the dimensions. Thanks for the post!
