Hi everyone. On deceleration in any gear I hear a winding gear noise that goes away even at less than 5% throttle. Did fluid change in both gear box and final drive with no improvement. Added Liqui Molly MSO2 gear grease in both places and it got worse! Any ideas? Mechanic said is due to straight cut gears in the gearbox. I am pretty certain that's where the noise is coming from.

My guess: You should listen to the mechanic and stop worrying about it.
MANY manual transmissions do that......in all kinds of vehicles.

THEN.....if the places that you put it are not designed to have "gear grease" in there.......
NOW you need to do a fluid change again and get that OUT.

If you keep trying to "fix" this, you likely will eventually actually cause some damage.
