I'm no expert on old Triumphs, but that sure looks like a really nice, collectable bike for $3,200. Is that typical for the marque? There's a pretty active Triumph club here in Ft. Lauderdale; I see a lot of them at the Bike Nights and Sunday rides. I've always liked their bikes. If I were going to get a classic Brit though, it would have to be a BSA for sentimental reasons; a BSA was the first bike I rode on.

Yeah, well....

If you look again, it has a reserve on it. So the final price is probably much more than that.
... it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Old Triumphs require an owner who is willing to spend a lot of time on maintenance. It'd be interesting to know what the reserve is. If it's like most of these things the seller is living in dreamland.

Speaking of dreamland I saw a 7 year old 1100 Shadow in the local classifieds for $6K. That's about what they cost new. LOL! Everybody thinks their old pos is worth its weight in gold.

it seems to be in pretty good shape. the only non stock items are the handlebars and a 16"rear wheel. Couldn't see any indication it had ever been dumped or trashed. Valves may need adjustment slight noise. Original paint still in good shape. Same owner for past 20+ yrs. Top and bottom end rebuilt appx 2k miles ago.

Sounds like someone tried to make it into a chopper. I'd say $1,000.00 tops.

It'll cost you around $300.00 to get a stck rear hoop laced up, another sixty for some bars.

Look out for oil misting around the head gasket, rocker boxes, oushrod tubes. It doesn't have ape hangersI hope...

A thousand bucks? Someone hasn't shopped for Brit bikes in a while!

When ya go on ebay, do a completed items search, that way you find the actual selling price. You need to be a member to do this. According to what I see, the average price for the 74 would be about 4K on ebay for the year and condition it is in. It is worth double that in the UK. A pre 71 (pre oil in the frame) is worth quite a bit more. If that 74 ebay bike was mine I would probably want to get 5K for it, I would not sell it for 4.
