Actually Dr. I think you'll find the 865 cc "0" degree vertical twin to be the ideal in performance for it is based on Edwin Turners devine guidence.
True, the Italians have had some small success with the "L" twin and four, and those Godless Heathen Japanese with their inline fours and "V" 5's have had a smattering of success as would any design after you threw enough money at it, but true mecanical excellence resides in the standard vertical twin
No other design need be contemplated, for therein lies madness...........
