I thought the whole idea of the 800 was to slow the bikes down...

I thought the whole idea of the 800 was to slow the bikes down?

2007 MotoGP should be a great season!!

I keep telling people that the middleclass bikes (750-850cc) are the ultimately correct and divinely inspired size. Better engine than the tiddler 600 class and better handling than the liter class. It's self-evident. Resistence is futile.

Re: 800 GP Bikes No Slouch!

Hmmm, could the fact that Valencia is like a tight, 2nd/3rd gear track on the 990s have anything to do with it, or that the track temperature was cooler for the test? MOrons, always jumping to conclusions...

Nicky said yesterday it was obvious that the 800 could carry more speed on entry and exit of corners. If you drop a few mph on top end but gain in corners it is easily possible to turn faster times without gaining actual top end performance.

Thanks seruzawa

Actually the GMP, kpaul, along with his favorite an the greatest AMA superbike champion of all time Matt Mladin have been saying this for years. Pretty sure thise is where seruzaWeasel got this notion from. Ah the sincerest form of flattery is no doubt imitation. Thinks seruzaWeasel..

Ah BuzWeasel... you know that the GMP, kpaul, has been saying that the V-4 and 800 cc is God's chosen motorcycle configuration for years now.

Yep I think somone on Soup, RW or crash.net said the same thing JB.. But the European tracks do favor nice flowing speeds because as Mladin says they are proper race tracks. What is the most like European track of the AMA circuits.. Mladin said Barber was too tight. Bostrom says Atlanta is too dangerous... Laguna has too steep of elevation change. Maybe its the flat Miller course in Utah.

Yep I would tend to agree as most European tracks have a nice flow to them unlike the stop start type stuff.

I was kinda going with the angle of maybe MCN's story was wrong and figured without having to say the "I" word, which I've been using too much lately, that JB might get a chuckle at his own expense, to put it briefly.

Didn't Hodgeson say something to the effect that Miller's layout reminded him of Qatar? The only reason Bostrom and others dig on Road ATL is because Panos won't change the run off on 10-10a. The wall is simply too close. Otherwise, Bostrom loves the track.

Actually Dr. I think you'll find the 865 cc "0" degree vertical twin to be the ideal in performance for it is based on Edwin Turners devine guidence.

True, the Italians have had some small success with the "L" twin and four, and those Godless Heathen Japanese with their inline fours and "V" 5's have had a smattering of success as would any design after you threw enough money at it, but true mecanical excellence resides in the standard vertical twin

No other design need be contemplated, for therein lies madness...........

Of course they are faster: light makes right. Less mass equals faster turning. Less to push down the track. And with itty bitty Rossi weighing a buck-nuthin, I'm not surprised at all he was that fast. Think I'll buy me an 800 VFR. Oh wait, I weigh 235, not 135. Better make it a Triumph Rocket Buffalo....

That's ridiculous. Twins are a far more practical engine for urban riding IMO.

That ST3s come in yet ? BTW which has more power a ST4s or a ST3s?
