I keep telling people that the middleclass bikes (750-850cc) are the ultimately correct and divinely inspired size. Better engine than the tiddler 600 class and better handling than the liter class. It's self-evident. Resistence is futile.

I've always been prejudiced towards 750s. The Norton was the ultimate machine in the mid-60s. That was before the Great Motorcycle Muffin was even a gleam in his numerous fathers' eyes.

Since the 250s are only a few seconds slower around than the big class this shouldn't surprise anyone.

That is the main thing that has turned me off to auto racing over the years. Someone comes up with a better idea within the rules and the others simply get it banned. So much for the idea that racing improves the breed.

Like the turbine car. I've never watched the Indy series since the Offy mafia banned it.
