I have been rideing a scooter for about a year and I just bought a 92 VS800 intruder. When I parked it last nite I left the gas valve in the on position and this morning it was leaking gas around the hose fitting on the valve. Is wise to always keep this valve in the off position when you park it? When I get home from work today I will try to replase thew hose if that is the proble:confused: m.

Those pet**** (gas valve) on those bikes (and most bikes with a pet****) is vacuum operated, meaning that the motor has to be running (and producing vacuum) for the valve to flow fuel. If your's is leaking when the bike is parked, shutting the valve off my solve your problem, but to make it "right" you need to either rebuild the pet**** (if it is serviceable) or replace it. I personally prefer a pet**** that is not vacuum operated, makes it easier to get fuel into the carb without having to crank the motor over a bunch of times. But then you have to remember to shut off the fuel when parked, and turn it back on before you roll out.
