Got a 96 Honda Magna . . .

The headlight won't come on when key is turned on . . . and bike won't start.

We can push start it or jump it with a screwdriver across the starter circuit.

Bike will run that way, but still no headlight!

We think it is the start switch. but not sure . . .

Any ideas

Sounds to me like you've got an electrical problem! I could be wrong...

It could be the switch. Also, there is usually a relay in the circuit that actually switches the power on to the light (rather than flowing all the lamp current through the small switch). If you don't want to take it to the shop or throw parts at it, go buy the manual and work with the wiring diagram. They're imposing at first, but if you study it and relate the drawings to the hard parts, it will make sense to you. Get a $10 multi-meter at Radio Schnack and start testing!
