There may be some truth in this. It goes further than the bikes though. Look at all the european skinny pale dudes with bad teeth and dog breath. Shower twice a week and drive a clapped out Fiat Punto. Still the girls don´t mind. And why should they, unshaven legs and all. Do you guys know what is a "duche". Well we don´t have that in europe. That´s why fish is so popular.

Sacramento. We've got a lot of major highways and freeways n-s-e-w, including backroads & firetrails to the SF Bay Area, Tahoo, Sierra Nevada's, Lassen Park, Shasta, the Delta, etc, etc, etc. Basically, it's more sprawled out, but with enough open road you can still go fast -- unlike many SoCal and SF Bay Area freeways (though that's changing fast). I definitely see more "faired" bikes of all makes here, along with my dual-sports/enduros, because of the more backroads & trails.

I think americans don't by naked bikes because none of the big 4 have made a naked out of their sports bike how 'bout an 05 gixxer with a decent seat, lower pegs a superbike bar and no fairing, for around 2-3k less than the state of the art race rep. that bike would sell like hotcakes.
