35k miles in 2 years, one speedo cable. Other than that it's started everytime, run's like a Swiss watch and been a genuine ball to ride in everything from a foot of snow to 100+ degrees, sea level to 5k feet, never a hiccup, paint, powdercoating and chrome still look like new, Best bike I ever owned.
I finally wore out the stock chain and just now ordered a set of sprockets from AFAM and a new D.I.D ZVM chain. Other than that it's been gas in the tank, push "start" and go.

Gee, kind of like an old Kawasaki.
It's nice to see an alternative to the UJM from the UK though. Who woulda thought?
Guess that ol' CNC has leveled the playing field some. Wonder why they don't make any "lightweight" stuff like an MX, dual sport, motard, etc. Would be nice to see someone racing in the dirt wearing a Triumph jersey.

longride you were right seems like somone got the message about not playing in the inline 4 supersport market. Congrads longride you right! I and many other MOrons were dead wrong..

My KZ didn't hold up this well, I'd went through all new cables and a head gasket by the time it hit 20k.
A bike like the 250 Trophy single would be a kick in the ass for logging roads and the like, there's a lot of talk about them on different Triumph sites. I learned to ride on a '66 "Mountain" Cub. I know where there's a runner for sale for around $3k...........

That'd be cool. Good luck on parts. 3k's a little steep.
A new Turnip single? Dohc. 4 valves. Kind of a cross between a Honda/KTM? They should use polished metal with a black stripe for the gas tank.
I had a Cub. 200cc's of fear. Used it as a messenger bike. I did no absolutley no maintenence to it, and one time all the spokes loosened up so bad, it was like impossible to control. Lucky for me it got stolen.
The original Trophy 250 was anything but. 300 lbs and about 11 hp. The engine design was the farther of the Victor series. A dubious distinction indeed. You needed a 50 tooth sprocket on the back to trail ride one of the beasts, dropping the top end down to around 35-40. I had one of those too.
Funny, at lunch my KZ's clutch cable broke. Down to 2 strands. Good thing it's mostly freeway home.

This is good news for Harley Davidson. The success of Triumph means you can create a new motorcycle company and compete more or less head-to-head with the Japs. HD will need to replace or highly modify their line-up of motorcycles for generations younger than mine if they want to continue to hold their current market share. They have all the means to do it.
