Japanese sportbikes don't hold their value nearly as well as American Iron, but if all you have is three bucks to spend, don't expect much.
advice
I have been a harley rider for the last five years, this summer while on vacation i rented a gsxr, long story short i really liked the ride and power of sport bikes. i am looking into buying a used bike, was wondering what advice anyone had, i like the feel on a cbr, i also think i will be getting more bang for my buck. Are there any years or models of cbr that are better than others. I will just be doing a lot of riding not a lot racing, just want a good bike that will last a lifetime. looking to spend around 3

Seriously though - have you looked at the first-gen Suzuki SV650?
If you feel inline-power is what you want, any of the late-'90s/early '00s sportbikes will do you good.
