Nice to see a review that covers the flaws.

Extrapolating from the prices mentioned, is it fair to say that a typical set of race leathers goes for around $3,000? I'm doing a lot of thinking about riding wear as I get ready to start again after my accident. These guys make undershorts and shirts with what looks like effective armor at key spots (HIP!).

I wonder if these shorts would have saved me 10 weeks on crutches...

A "typical set of race leathers" doesn't exist. Prices are all over the map. $3K is about the price of top-of-the-line suits from Astars or Dainese, but they both offer decent stuff at less than half that price. Several suits are offered below $1K from lower-line OEMs.
