Sounds about right, think I need to go to the truck scales to find out how much I actually weigh. Should be somewhere around three and a quarter.If you could get down to 260, you'd be half the man you used to be......

As said above, the 883 Hugger was a lowered version on the sportster, equivalent to the newer 883 Low. IIRC, it was the entry-level model with a solo seat and no frills.
I would steer clear of the "low" bikes unless you are short and can't reach the ground on a normal motorcycle. Lowered suspension = less suspension travel = harsh ride.
P.S. the good thing about the 883cc Sportster is it is easily upgradable to 1200cc. Harley sells a kit with everything needed for the conversion.

Yeah I get the joke on weight savings. Like my buddy telling me to buy new pedals for my mountain bike to save 20 grams. I rolled my eyes and said I can skip lunch and save a hell of a lot more than that. Same with my exhaust, granted you could use it for an anchor on a battle ship but with a 300+ lb mutant riding it whats the point?

The jokes on you my friend, I used to walk a 4 miles a day and work out with weights and push ups well up into my 40's. I got injured and stopped and within a few years it all softened up, only my arms stayed big from reefing on valves at work.

Funny you should mention that. I put my new 2Bros M5 V.A.L.E. carbon-fiber with Magnesium...(the secret ingredient that makes a man a P-O-W-E-R H-O-U-S-E in Bed!) on the Vee. The OEM exhaust, just the cans and pipes to the cat, mind you, easily weigh 50 pounds. Might be 60. The 2Bros M5 V.A.L.E. carbon-fiber with Magnesium...(the secret ingredient that makes a man a P-O-W-E-R H-O-U-S-E in Bed!) system might weigh 8 lbs total. It's like having the kid hop off the passenger seat.
It's enough of a difference that even I can detect it. Much snappier acceleration, quicker turning.

And your wallet weighs quite a bit less!
That and all the dyno's for pipes for my bike show a nice 4 to 5 hp dip right where I cruise on the freeway. Just seems they moved it to an rpm range I dont visit very often. Add in noise, nah.

i bought a new 1200 c sportster in 2005. it was one fun bike to ride. i am 6-1 and 205 lbs. with a slip on muffler and jet kit it put out 72 RWHP. more than a new full size 96 cu in HD. it was well made and i just loved it. buy one and just ignore the stupid fools on big twins remarks about 1/2 a harley etc. i sold it becouse i am crazy and just wanted to try something else.
