Valentino Rossi never ran the #1 plate in MotoGP , he's always #46. His rational was that whenever you saw the #46 bike, you'd know it was him regardless of what team, bike or sponsor he's currently riding for.
Is this like the schools where they quit giving the "F" grade? No one wants to hurt the self-esteem of other racers by making them see the winner running a "1" plate. Might bruise their egos. Everybody give a group hug and sing Kumbaya.
Actually, this is a pretty stupid thing to waste time with at all. I guess the committee has a lot of time on their hands. Only idiots would waste even a second on a subject like this.
I doubt Honda had anything to do with it. If it's evil and self-serving, then Harley is behind the mess somewhere. They screw up everything for everybody every time.
