They're nice enough bikes. I've owned a few older ones which were a lot of fun and reliable, the newer ones seem to have some issues I'd rather not contend with. BMW sells a lot of bikes and most owners are pretty rabid about them so I'd buy one if I was in the market and just get the extended warranty, then trade in when that was up..

If the new BMW's are anything like the earlier ones valve intervals are a moot point anyway. My '85 K 100 with screw and lock nut adjusters needed no adjustments is nearly 60k miles, for that matter my '02 1200 Triumph 4 cyl. needed no adjustments either in over 40k. unleaded fuel, clean burning engines and improved metallurgy pretty well closed the book on valve adjustments IMO. Probably a good idea to check at around 5~10k initially, after that it's just an excuse to drop stuff inside your engine.
