More from AMA VP Harry Butz

"This competition addresses an unmet need," said Butz. "Traditional motorcycle competitions are all about speed and excitement. In this competition, however, the slowest and most boring riders at last have a chance to shine."

Many aspects of the Top Gun competitition have already been featured at AMA sponsored rallies. For instance, the annual Slow Race at Daytona -- in which riders attempt to navigate a course of 100 yards at the slowest speed without falling over -- is still going on, with the "leading" rider averaging 0.0000034 miles per hour. Results are expected in October.

Breaking news...

"the record slow rider, known simply by the moniker "Fat Boy" has been under investigation for enhancing his non-performance with quualudes (tm) and other barbituates. Fat Boy's team owner denied the accusations, saying there was no evidence of any drug use, and even if there was, there's no way a Fat Boy could be any slower than stock, so drug use would be inconsequetial.

TG,

You may have set a record for dredging up the oldest post!

This thread started sometime in '01, if you can believe the tags.

Of course, you may wonder how someone that joined in November could post in June, but never mind...

Oh, and Welcome to the site!
