More power to you, JB! Glad you have a new venue to showcase your remarkable talent. This coming from me - a slightly right-leaning, pro-capitalist bonehead who doesn't have all the answers. Peace out, brother.

Let me get this straight--you think they are OK with their anti-materialistic views, entitled to them, that this is what forms the basis of their anti-Americanism, and then say we could solve the hate fostered by such views by air-dropping mini-bikes???? Seems to me this would be an idealistic slap to the face and held up in anti-consumeristic countries as yet another attempt at forcing Western-style consumerism where it is not wanted...

I'm guessing no-one reads this at the end of the litany of SUV bashing, but...

I own an SUV. Yup, gas-guzzling, aerodynamic as a brick Jeep Cherokee. And love it.

-but-

I live down a 1/4 mile dirt driveway with a steep hill at the end. And, here in snowy Maine, I've gotten stuck with a 2wd car twice. And for the same year, milage, and condition, any used 4wd car out there was mo' money. And running dirt tires with ice-traction spikes on my old Honda Hawk was fun when there was snow and ice on the road, but frightening otherwise.

And its the wife's car--I commute 140mi round trip on my VFR. So there.

That said, we have valid reasons to own an SUV... but I still sneer at the one's my neighbors, who front a plowed street, own and can't help but laugh when I see them off the road during winter conditions here in ME.

Remember: 4wd on ice only means that all four wheels will be spinning when you go off the road instead of just two; and all cars come with 4-wheel-braking, for all the good it does in messy conditions.
