How much fun can it be riding behind an old police car?

Hope BMW is footing most of the donation to the charities because $1000 bucks a piece isn't going to cover babysitting these dudes.

Anybody catch the title of that article? "A Nice Biker Gang." Ugh. The general public is hopeless.

"a portion" is the key phraze here. Then again... from what I've seen, they'd be better off providing those east LA kids with food. Since aparently most of them would spend 100 bucks on new shoes while starving to death.

Gee whiz guys, maybe ya'll need to borrow some Paxil from Burns. These guys are doing something nice for the community and BMW gets to promote their bikes. The hotels, food, and other accomodations are usually donated free or aquired at a reduced price which gives the donor advertising and the ability for people to sample what they have to offer so folks will come back with their friends/family.

Most rides have police escorts for a safe & organized trip which works well for all involved.

Yes, they could donate $1000 worth of food or a coupon for two months of prepaid health care if they really wanted to help but then again, if frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their bottoms when they hopped.

Let me get this straight. BMW riders need a parts van following them around? I've not seen this phenomenon since the AMF Harley years.

I'm trying to look on the positive side of this, I suppose it makes these people feel good about themselves and buys a few more pairs of $100. Nikes for the kids in the 'hood.

The whole thing just strikes me as slumming at best. I don't know how these Captains of Industry can risk the well being of our economy by doing something as foolhardy as RACING ABOUT ON MOTORCYCLES AT 100 MPH. ! It's just scandalous. Ms. Yoshiyama was right in bringing this nonsense to our attention.

You don't see them trying this crap in Grants Pass do you?

"(A BMW motorcycle) is the finest bike you can buy," Kaiser says. "It’s the difference between a propeller plane and a Lear jet. (The bike) is extremely well balanced."

What the hell was this guy smokin'?????

Well, acutally I'd probably give that "finest bike" title to one of them there hand built MV Agustas.

Some of them Beemer snobs make the GPTB snobs look positively bush league.

You just don't understand! Sure, these folks are educated professionals who hold jobs requiring high productivity and responsibility. Sure, they can probably afford to spend whole long weekends staying at fancy places.

Sure, they aren't doing anything any other bunch of guys setting up a weekend ride wouldn't do, except that it's on a larger scale. Who knows, maybe they even do a little good.

So where'd they go wrong? Obviously, they DIDN'T invite US!

Didn't OJ live in Brentwood? It's for a good cause though... After hard week exploiting the working folks, offshoring manufacturing jobs, creating tax shelters, raiding pension funds, dining with W its nice to spend weekends giving back to the community...

So I just want to make sure I've got this right, the only reason for the negative remarks is that folks weren't invited? Seriously, I found myself wondering what some of the posters got their knickers in a twist about. Some folks who've got stuff some of us don't, is that it? Does that also explain the nasty generalizations about kids in East LA and the reference to 'delicate features'? Yeah, the article and the quotes were self-congratulatory. What's new? Some people trying to do some good by having fun. Would it have been different if they'd been riding Harleys raising money for the widows and orphans of 9/11? What about all those rides Malcolm Forbes used to lead?

I'm just trying to understand.....

GAG!!! So much for the image of the rugged, independent, crossing Africa on a GS, motorcyclist that BMW loves to promote.

At least these guys are not being investigated for stealing bikes and operating meth labs.

Insider trading, maybe, but not for drug running.
