So?

China is the biggest market, yes. Why wouldn't they respond to that? It doesn't meant that they are going to stop selling motorcycles here. The USA has always been more luxury than practical for bike sales. It's still a huge market for the bigger models.

China has already banned motorcycles and scooters in some of the cities. It's always a risk to deal with a totalitarian nation.

Correct, I live in Marysville, OH. Home of the motorcycle plant that produces the VTX and Goldwings (among a few other smaller bikes). They've been here since 1979 and now they are moving all motorcycle production back to Japan. They still have several auto plants here that produce the accord, civic GX, etc.

If you read the articles you'll see that the 450 motorcycle plant employees aren't being laid off. Instead they'll be integrated into the auto production. What isn't said here is that this will push many of the other full time employees of Honda auto into part time jobs. Furthermore there are over 30 local companies that act as suppliers to Honda Motorcycle production. Some of these companies exist almost exclusively because of Honda and will quickly vanish. While others will just see a moderate drop in production that will probably result in more downsizing. Sucks, but I guess that's the way things roll.
