You're going to "charge" him whatever it costs you to put it back in the shape it was in before the dumbarse knocked it over. Every penny. Keep receipts. Tell him you don't care if it's a check from him or his insurance company, as long as it clears. TAKE PICTURES, before and after. No mercy, it's the only way you'll get even a dime.
Bike Knocked Over in Parking Lot
So a truck layed down my 87 Ninja EX 500
the throttle is all stick (basically have cruise control), the brake pedal is bent, the mirror broke off, and there are obviously damages to the fairings. The mirror is a non issue b/c they're both fuced already and i just bought new ones to put on.
My question is about the fairing damage.
I got the guy's info and I'm gonna charge him for the damages but what should I charge him for the fairing damage, obv im not gunna replace them. Whats the standard procedure here?

I've laid it down before, so it was scratched to begin with. It's just worse now. Should I see how much a paint job is or can they patch the chips? Yes first bike
Might as well get the fairings replaced. If you're trying to get a new bike in the near future it'll make selling this one actually doable
Aftermarket plasitc is cheap compared to OEM plastic. Gather the broke pieces and get a cost of replacement. Get the service manager to do a "real" appraisal. Then promptly take your list to the parts counter and see what's available in the aftermarket. This may be your shot to customize your bike for little to no cost. The appraisal will cost you 1 hr (about $65) and is re-imbursable from the insurance company (it's your right as the consumer).
The one and only time this happened to me, I got good results doing my own appraisal. I used prices from bikebandit and told them I would repaint my bodywork for half price. No questions at all just a check in the mail.
