Hello! I am doing a design project looking at design opportunities involving lighting for motorcycles and the user. More than 40 percent of all motorcycle crashes are caused by another drivers complacency or failing to see bikers on the road. I'm interested in seeing how we might change this.
TLDR: Any thoughts on what it's like on a daily basis as a biker, things one might like to see improved, things that may have been introduced to solve this problem that need improvement, etc. Suggestions can be future-focused as far as 5-6 years in the future or settled in the present with current technology.
Some ideas I've considered looking into are an integrated HUD in helmets, a leather jacket with lined LEDs or ELs (to keep the cool without compromising safety), adding a light trial (futuristic) behind the bike on the rear fender, and tackling the turn signals which many drivers complain are too small and not at eye level; may combine this one into a jacket as well, which has been done, but will do it through a refinement approach.
