Excellent Point.. On the other hand if we would get serious about nuclear power again..( like France) we could build a pretty good infrastructure around electric power..

I agree and that point gets left out of the debate. However, as you remember from sophomore thermodynamics that a gasoline engine is not very efficient compared to an electrical motor.. So even with line losses, which I concede are substantial, if electrical power was cheap and relatively clean (nuclear) It would still be a good alternative for trains,light rail, monorails, trollies, buses etc...Especially since oil prices will continue to rise and haven't gone down to any degree since the last time we debated this topic...
