There's no shortage of creative energy at Buell. And plenty deep pockets at H-D. So don't sell Buell short--- this could be verrry interesting. And I really like the idea of an American dirt bike, just as much as I like the idea of an American sport bike. Buell can do it if anyone can...

Hi there. If it's going to be a legal competitive motocross and dirt tracker, it has to be a 450cc single. So, I'm pretty sure that's what it will be. Buell has shown it can come up with good suspension. And that's what's needed to be win. Almost all the top dirtbikes, make within a couple of horsepower of each other. The big differences are in how they handle. If Buell can knock off a couple hundred pounds off a Sportster, I'll bet they can come up with some ideas, to make a light dirt bike.

Buell folloing BMW?

It seems that whenever BMW comes out with a new model (1200GS, HP2, G650X), Buell will follow (Ulysess, dirt bike). What's next for Buell, a 60 hp 800 lb. $25,000 tourer? Oh wait..........sorry.

I would think a sport bike, or even a dirt bike, next to all the road oriented Harley's would be a compliment, rather than a detriment. Selling them in a Suzuki dealership would probably just cut into sales for both of them, no? Of course, we're talking motorcycles here, so logic goes out the window.

Re: Buell folloing BMW?

Maybe. When all is said and done in a few years, I think Buell will be able to deliver a nicer bike for the money than BMW will. I saw a couple of F800s last week, and I wasn't impressed. The new "dirt" bikes appear to

be too heavy and expensive to compete with anything else out there. Harley needs to diversify its line, and E.B. is the guy to do it. I hope he sets his sights squarely on BMW.

I have the older brother, SR500, that is doing just fine. Took it up the freeway yesterday with the speedo needle wagging between 85 and 95. I'm guessing maybe 80. Not bad uphill into a strong headwind. Man, do I need to get rid of that pipe! Poor cagers nearby were crying as I slowly went by.

I can certainly appreciate the hotted SRX though. But I really want something with that new bike smell that only has one lung and looks like a street bike.
