Got the Syntec Full Synthetic Racing at Cycle Gear. On sale for $8 a liter! (that's MORE than a quart y'all!) Mixes nicely with Stoli.

Why? Are you going racing?

Where you gonna take the bike to perform the abovementioned "Full Synthetic Racing?"

And what is that, exactly? Is "Synthetic Racing" like the touchy-feely school athletics, where they don't keep score, "so no one loses?"

Not to precipitate another oil thread, but if you go to WalMart and buy the Mobil 1 in the 5QT jug in the proper viz for your bike, you'll save a bunch of money. IIRC, it's $19. Don't worry about "car vs. bike oil," because the oils in the viz range for our bikes are not Energy Conserving, therefore not a problem.

Then go down the street to your AdvanceAuto/PepBoys/O'Reilly's and buy the appropriate Purolator "PureOne" spin-on filter.

"Oil-related failure" will drop to the bottom of your list of things to worry about.

WTF, we haven't had an oil thread for awhile......

I use the 15/50w Mobil one Full Synthetic in the Snarley Davidson and Shell Rotella 15w40 Diesel oil in the Suzook. Being Diesel oil it doesn't have to meet the Energy Conserving criteria and is formulated for very high mile turbo diesel engines.

I figure if it's good enough for A'murica's Truckers it's good enough for my lil' ol' two-h-weeler by gar ....(sniff)..

I noticed that lately the 5w30 and 10w30 have TWO different formulaes in that silver Mobil 1 5-qt. jug - one formulation is lacking the "Energy Conserving" moniker in its little API-certification circle. It's also the $19 jug, VS. the $21 jug that DOES have "Energy Conserving" printed on it.

Look carefully when purchasing it for a wet-clutch bike.

Belt Lube?

Anybody know the correct viscosity/composition for the belts on Buells? I think I've been neglecting that along with the valve adjustments....

bbtowns is correct. People should do their own basic maintenance on their bikes. It is getting so bad that everyone wants to be like Buz; all play and no work! I am swapping out the sprockets, chain and rear tire on the Bandit as we speak. Now if it will just quit f&cking snowing!

If you live in 24/7 riding season you don't want to do your own maintenance. You drop off one bike and ride the others. No down time that way!

I rode the Duc and the Yamaha today. Didn't see any snow!
