Here at Atlanta Triumph Ducati (how'd you like that plug), we sell ALL 675s before they even hit the floor. Even the Demo models are spoken for in advance. But the MV Brutale I ragged this weekend makes me smile thinking about the fun I had in the N GA hills this weekend.

There is certainly some logic to the less is better aspect of these test results. The smaller bikes are more usable and rider accessible than the 1000. You certainly can use a greater percentage of their capabilities too--makes you feel more like you are in control. I would have agreed with these results before I took my Gixxer Six to the Smoky Mountains. The 600 is not the ideal tight corner weapon it's cracked up to be. My buddy had a 1000. He simply parked it in third gear and picked his braking and turning points at will. Meanwhile, I was trying to do that, but I was also doing the 3 or 4 gear tap dance to keep the bike between 11,000 to 15,000 if I had a chance of keeping him in sight. Lots of work--very taxing and tiring. The 750 requires the same type of riding, just lower the RPM parameters a thousand RPM. I find the 1000 to be very ride-able. You can easily tune in the type of riding you wish to do by picking any shift point you wish and dialing in more or less throttle. The one caveat is you better have a damn good idea where you are headed with that last eighth turn of the throttle (and an even better idea of your next braking point). I like the Thou' because it allows me to be lazy and go at a very satisfying, relatively quick pace with very little effort. I am also more able to concentrate on braking, turning, and accelerating points much more effectively. I like it because it gives me so many different choices of a riding pace plus the baddest-ass balls-out pace known to man.

KP, where you been?

The discontinuation of the 955i was announced last year. The biggest debate in Triumphland is if/when a new-generation big-bore successor will be introduced.

That said, I'd be surprised if you couldn't find a leftover 955i for a low, low price.

Re: KP, where you been?

Wow I am losing it. Thanks for the info. I The Triumph dealer here had a Red one they were trying to sell me. When I got on it it felt a little long for me.. But I just got off the 675. They were pratically giving it away.

with the ZX-6R having gone back to 600cc (not counting the RR, giving away the only thing that set the Kawasaki apart from the other 3 japanese 600s in view of the Triumph's 675 makes me a bit curious.

I have a feeling there is a 750cc ZX in the wings.....

me, I have no use for any of these machines. I want a machine thats not just fun to ride but but fun to ride anywhere, everywhere in any kind of situation. a colleague showed up today on a Duc 998 and for the first time I found myself laughing at a duc rider (I had one myself). the bike was gorgeous, I want one, but did that guy really lay rubber out of apexes while on his way to work this morning? Did he really back it through that traffic circle near work?

now, I don't want to take my bike out somewhere special 2 hours ride away on saturday morning to enjoy it. I want the bike to fit my life, please me when and where I want to be pleased. if that means riding to work, to taking a 1000 mile road trip, or strafing the local winding roads, its gotta do it all, do it well and do it without making a pain out of itself.

these GSXRS and daytonas are worthless as far as I am concerned.

more choices for us = more fun

As much as I love Japanese bikes (I've got one now) I am so happy when a Triumph, Duc or Guzzi just cleans everybody else's clock. And then there's BMW with their atomic clocks. Quality bikes just comin' outta the woodwork.
