Wellllll, Don't let this stop you from making a cross country trip on a "questionable" ride.....

Find a reason!

Souinds like you got a decent deal. There's pretty good reasons that the Concours has stayed on the market all this time, namely that Kawasaki got it right the first time.

As for heading across country, there isn't a reason in the world, except for a family emergency, not to do it. What's the worst that can happen out on the road, that wouldn't happen within 25 miles of home? The quick answer is "mechanical breakdown". And that isn't a Big Deal unless you choose to make it so. Accidents, illness, or injury could happen anywhere. Not that sucn things are all that likely.

Having ridden across country a half dozen times, I can only think of a few pieces of advice: (1) Don't try to go too far the first day or two. (2) As is true for any travel by any means, take half as much luggage and twice as much money as you think you need. (3) If you spot a place on the map that looks interesting, take the time to go there.

Hopefully your future holds many long and fun rides. At least that's what I wish for you.

If you have never been out west, on the way to get there lies one of my fav offbeat rides: Nebraska State 2 from Grand Isle to Alliance straight thru the heart of the Sand Hills Country. My second ride thru that area was - lucky for me - during the early stage of the "Central Flyway" waterfowl migration run to the south. Wow. Even down in the marshes around Pilottown, LA I've not seen so many wild geese.

You'll find beaucoup internet resources for your Connie. Have fun!

Just in case you didn't know

Copying and pasting the same response on different threads is called spamming. Spamming earned you some time off the last time you did it, and I guess you haven't learned anything from your last vacation from MO. I think I've seen this post at least 6 times already, and I don't think anyone wants to see it again. It wasn't funny then, and it is even less funny now. I figured you would have learned something by now, but I guess that would be asking too much. If you can't take the time to come up with anything else, then go find something else to do, like charging the battery on the bike you don't ride.

Re: Just in case you didn't know

Especially since the rating of motorcycles by someone who has never ridden them is beyond bizarre.

Whats the big deal about doing a cross country trip in the US ? Its not like you are crossing Inner Mongolia or something.Just get on a bike, any bike, and do it ! I did it on a 350 Honda carrying a small back pack and tent.No big deal.Truckers are going back and forth constantly.Too many choices are what distract us from our goals.

I say you get yourself the high scoring GSXR750 and I'll take the lowly Road Glide. We load up the women and gear and ride from Portland, OR to Portland, ME.

Whoever gives up first or gets beaten to a pulp by the woman has to pay for the other guy's bike. I'm game if you are.

Go to the Gym Geezer Glide.

Sure we get MO to sponser.. I get my old college girlfriend to ride on the back (She is Asian and 5 feet and 98 lbs) I would have a chance.. But my wife is 5' 7" and Irish so that that ain't going to happen....but Mano to Mano Gixer vs Geezer Glide. I could take you... Hell I road my ZX-6R 200 miles straight once no problems.. Ya just have to go to gym Buz

Get on Rt. 220 or 219 and come south for a few days. Wind your way on down to Boone. Hop on over to Bristol. See the Biltmore. Ride up the Blue Ridge and look down from Mt. Mitchell or Mt. Rogers. Or, just try to find your way to Spruce Knob. I defy you to ever want to return to PA after getting lost for a few days in West Virginia. Have a great bike!

And skip the Dragon, it's been over exposed. You have your own mini-dragon just south of Everett called Rt. 26.
