Awwww.....

Both of you guys are just plain mean. I'm glad i'm not like that!
.... we'll just hold hands and sing kumbaya a few times and watch "Some Convenient BS" for proper re-education.

I've always chuckled at all the things that are called "investments" in our society. Advertisers call BMWs and Lexi "investments" instead of "depreciating future piles of rust". Tax and spend pork is called by the govt "an investment in the future" instead of "redistributed money stolen from people who work for a living". I'm sure you can think of some.

What the?

I thought Harley's "held their value"? Is this the Final Sign of the Impending Moto-Apocalypse? Shouldn't that read "$24K invested, willing to let it go for $30K"?

I mean, you H-D faithful on here might be able to shed some lieght(sic) on the subject.........

Wow, ...is the $24k on top of the purchase price or including?....

At any rate, a new '08 FXWG with 6 speed, EFI, 96 in motor, 0 miles and full warranty + factory financing is...what? $17k OTD ?

This is ..hmmm, a 2000 so early TC88, possible cam bearing issues...carburator and 5 speed...a bunch of standard add on's that cost around $1500 total.....

List for a 2k Wide Glide was around $14k but you no doubt paid a $2~3 k vasoline tax......

include depreciation for whatever miles you put on there, plus my time for yarding off all that "tons of chrome" and undoing any sledgehammer work you and your bros did...I'd say around $8~9 k was more like it...

Just tryin to help here...

....5 speeds. Your Hog has a 6 speed right? It's not like one of those peaky weak-sister 600s. My friend has a DL1000 and the 6 speed on his also seems an exercise in futility. Another friend has a BMW R1150 and an R1100. He likes the 5 speed better as well. Engines with those power characteristics don't seem to gain any substantial advantage from a 6 speed IMHO. My Magna has a 6 speed and with no gear position indicator makes it very difficult to tell which gear you are in.

No, mines an '05, last year for 5 speeds and carburators. I agree, a six speed on an HD is not much use really. The ratios on the 5 speed are well suited for the 88's powerband, 90 in 5th is around 3.5~4k- which is where the motor like to run. One thing I notice with the 88 is it likes to rev, I bounce it off redline in all 5 gears and it eats it up and begs for more.

I don't see much point in loping along at 2k RPM all day in 6th and around here with all the hills you're really not going to use it anyway. Maybe if you're going across like Colorado or Kansas or something where it's pancake city you could just idle along but I don't see much use for it here.

I'm still trying to figure out why anybody needs more than 4 speeds. All I had to do was put a bigger sprocket on the LR and it runs along with the traffic just fine. The Kawi has six speeds which simply serve to confuse me; I constantly shift up unnecessariy one extra time because I lost count at five.

I don't know if y'all noticed, but this bike has a RUBBER MOUNTED MOTOR! That's gotta be worth $$10k all by itself.

The six-speed has an overdrive for sixth that is useful for hauling ass down the interstate. I rode the Street Bob with the six, and if you are doing 90 - 95 on the pike, the bike is very comfy at those speeds. Anything higher than 75, and the six-speed comes into play. I wish I had a six on my Bagger, because if you are on the tollway here and not doing at least 80, you will get run over. They way I see it, it doesn't hurt to have it available.
