I heard that some motorcycle cylinders are made or coated with something ( Nickel maybe) I can’t remember what. To the point, it can not be honed normally. Would my cylinders have this stuff on them, or be made of it? Bike in question CB450 K5. On a side note, can anyone help me find standard rings for the CB450 pistons?

Some bikes have plated cylinders but the CB450 does not.

As for rings check the dealer and accessory shops, internet searches, etc. I'm sure you can accomplish that yourself. That's what the rest of us do.
Nickasil is probably what you're thinking of but it's silica (glass) not Nickel and it wouldn't be on a CB450 as Dr. Seruzawa pointed out. I believe the first known use was in his Oxygen Destroying Bomb but he keeps pretty quiet about that, After decimating the fish population in Tokyo Bay he's probably feeling pretty bad not to mention the legal and moral implications he's had to deal with all these years. Of course the record breaking crab harvest has mitigated his guilt somewhat and basically cornered the market on Crabby Patties
Thank you for your kind words and there's a little gift in the mail for you. It's a metal sphere about 1" in diameter. Just drop it in the bathtub full of water with you for extra special cleansing action.
Do you really think I didn't check with the dealer, and or the accessory shops? $61 for three rings is a bit much. As for what the rest of you do well.... (put choice words here). The info on the cylinders was helpful though from "sarnali2".
How the fock would anyone know if you did or not, Your Highness?

Ha! $61 for three motorcycle rings, especially on a 30 year old motorcycle, is a bargain these days. Did you just fall off the turnip truck?
Wrong!

Sure, just ask Seruzawa how he got that knot on his head......
I was born in SoCal so I actually fell off the tomato truck. Don't you know anything? All that rain and proximity to broomstick driven psychosis must have softened your brain.
Join AHRMA and ask around. CB450/500 twins are still raced in their classes. I am sure that several actve racers will know where to get the proper parts at better than retail prices. And there's always eBay.
He still ain't gonna get 'em for less than $61.

He's fallen off anyhow. A typical new guy who joins to get free advice and gets all miffed if members don't fall over themselves kissing his arse.
Hey!

Maybe we should have a "Welcome Aboard" section like a lot of websites do...pop and cookies, some ice cream maybe..coffee and donuts... a little sit down and tell us about yourselves son......

You could be the host Seru......

I'm not the one who greets the new guys with a pile driver like you and lr. But these guys who want to be treated like royalty on a free message board can KMA. I answer his question and he gets all, "I'm King and you gotta give me free advice if I want it 'cause the world owes me a living." Like we're supposed to be mind readers and know that he's already checked out the internet and the dealers and such even though he never said so. Must be that self-esteem shyt they've been pushing in the schools. Makes everyone think they deserve to be Vice-president of the company as soon as they gradyate and get a job at the Burger King.

You've got my vote. And to go with your new job, here's the perfect ride for you:
Damm those filthy Floridians and their filthy chaddy ways.
Those filthy Bizzaronians and their filthy Flaggot ways...
Those filthy Strominians and their filthy strominian ways.
You should never run more than .288 lift and 38* duration for the intake and .332. lift and 48* duration for the exhaust on that engine with the stock pistons and lifters, with duration being the key. it's an interference engine so anything longer than that and the valves will hit the pistons at TDC
And don't forget to use a broom handle to adjust the tappets.
