Well you can certainly tell he's a biker, he's got the doo rag, vest and wannabe Japanese cruiser. Not sure about the lawyer bit, guess I'd have to see him in a Mens Wearhouse suit and some wing-tips....maybe a briefcase too..

I actually believe that moderately louder than stock is safer, runs better and sounds better than stock on some bikes. Not rattle windows-set-off-car-alarms-straight pipes, just better flow and a little more volume. I want cagers to know I'm there. Between my Triumph Off Road pipes and my Hi-Viz Aerostitch suit that I just got I figure I'm good to go.

I can tell they see me because they're squinting and covering their eyes as I pass. Shameless plug here, I rode in on my unfaired Bonnie this morning, 40 degrees, mixed rain and snow, lots of road spray, wearing my Aerostitch jacket and pants and a tank top and dress shirt underneath and was ok. Not warm but passable. I'll try it tomorrow with a fleece pullover underneath and should be warm and toasty. I've waited a long time to buy one of these, well worth the money in my book.

My personal experiance and opinion is that loud pipes get you noticed but visibility, situational awareness, a well maintained bike and skill keep you safe.

Rode in this morning, 37 degrees and dry with my gen-u-ine Triumph fleece pullover under neath and was warm as toast.

I think it's a Darwinian thing, if you live in a cold wet climate and want to ride all year, you develop (after years of Guinness consumption)

a layer of subcutaneous insulation around you vital organs and a closet full of Polar-Tec garments to wear under your riding suit.

That way you stay warm without all the fuss and bother of plugging in electric garments.

That stinks, it was 14 for the low on Wednesday but it warmed up to around 34 with the rain. Now it's supposed to be another El Nino` winter for us so 5 months of 50 and raining. At least I can ride in it, I just go through a lot of CRC and chain lube keeping all the sand and crap off.

I'll have to try them. Triumph makes some pretty good heated grips too. That's about the only thing that bothers me is my fingers get cold.

My loud farts TAKE lives.....I can Knock flies off a s**t wagon with my butt-air

A sardine, hot sauce, onion and garlic sandwich and some brussel sprouts washed down with some Full Sail Ale and watch out.

I farted in my coveralls once and when I bent over, got a full on nose hit...

Thought I was going to die!

Re: Excellent post!

We got over 16 inches of rain in November, capped off by 4 or 5 inches of snow.

I didn't quite hit the 2 k mark this month I'm afraid

I run either Avon AV46's or Michelin Pilot Roads. They both offer about the best combination of wet and dry traction for year round riding up here.

My Bonnie came with a Metzler Z2 which works pretty well. It's dificult to find good rubber to fit it so I'll probabaly stick with them on this bike.
