What a relief! I watched the race live, from my motorhome in the pits at Firebird Intl in Phoenix. I had just won my first CCS race. Needless to say the incident put a damper on my celebration. All of us were quite concerned that this was a fatal accident. The replays hardly looked survivable. Right after they resumed racing (for the third time) at Daytona, an expert and amateur got into a bad crash at Firebird. The Expert had to be airlifted out (He's ok now, from what I've heard) Between Daytona's and our own red-flags, the mood in the pits was pretty somber. The whole tone of the weekend changed. I sincerely hope the worst is behind us now (both AMA and CCS) Good luck Scott Russell. Good luck to my fellow racers.
