Our economy is going great. We do have serious issues with our trade deficit though. The whole 'housing bubble' and consumer debt thing will balance itself out with market adjustments that may cause minor or even major swings, but the trade deficit is a major concern. However, it's not something I can see a political fix for. Bush has been busy building a 500 million dollar embassy in Iraq (literally, and outside the green zone, because Baghdad will be peaceful soon you know.. it's the most expensive embassy ever erected by any government) so he hasn't had time to ***** the economy up. As long as more companies don't take Haliburton's que and move corporate headquarters to Dubai I'm confident we can last until we get the next wave of technology exports, we need those management jobs to keep the top 1% of the multinationals wealth flowing into the the USA. KP, get that nanotech stuff moving, if the singularity is near, we need to be the economy that's on the event horizon.

I'd rather have Ducati try their hands at an "under the engine" Buell exhaust as I always hear complaints about the seat getting hot on the under-seat exhausts, but the tail end still has a nice clean look to it.



The twin pipes look kind of large, though.



The front has a cleaned up nicely as the headlight creates a cleaner flow in the overall design.

The fact that Corporate America is making record profits isn't surprising (Americans work longer hours, and take fewer vacations and days off than any other western nation). And it doesn't necessarily translate into strong earnings for the average American. Statistics have been showing for years that the middle class is been squeezed out, and that the gap between the rich and the poor is growing. The rise of the middle class is what MADE the American economy what it is; The contraction of the middle class is a very worrisome sign. Please don't think I'm some left-wing liberal; I'm a conservative (old-school fiscal, not religious fundamentalist). However, after seeing how badly the (almost) unfettered capitalism we have here has skewed things in favor of big business, at the expense of everyone and everything else. I have to say that a little socialism is a good thing. (Never thought I'd say that).

Oh, and getting back to the original thread. I have a Ducati S2R 1000 and belong to Ducatimonster.org A Ducati Monster meassge board. The general opinion is "Eh, so what?" The picture is a photoshop, and theres no substantiating evidence that the article is accurate. The MCN article on the 1098 was way off, so why believe them on the monster.

You raise some valid points, but I would caution against using this phrase. It's utterly meaningless. If I make $40,000 per year and my neighbor makes $100,000, and we both get a 10% raise, the gap between us has grown - but I'm still making $4,000 more than I was. Even if my raise is only 2% and his is 20%, I am still making more than I was. And if I get a 20% raise and he gets a 100% raise, the gap between us has blown wide open, but I'm still doing really, really well.



The fact he has made even more is meaningless - if it is invested with significance, then we're entering the realm of the politics of envy, and there's nothing more dangerous than that.
