Thats statistically true, but he empirical evidence is that the actual rate of increase is growing more rapidly for the upper class. (Also they tend to be much less affected by cost of living increases that take a much bigger bite out of middle class household incomes.) Most professions tend to "top-out" in terms of income after a certain point, and no longer get substantial increases. This is particularly true among the blue/white collar jobs that make up the middle class. So the upper income increase in your example would probably not be the same as the middle class one.
Actually thats not entirely true. Most of the studies I've seen list upper class incomes as being over $250,000 (If I remember correctly). So the $100,000 one in your example would still be considered middle class. (I suppose the term RICH is relative. )
Excellent well said. flatspin you are on the mark.. These MOrons are drunk on Faux News and denial. I am a middle of the road fiscal conservative Republican. That thinks the unconstrained neocons of the White House were quickly ruining this country . Balance is a good thing..
Who cares about the income gaps. Thats for the envious commies. But vacations should be for everyone. You guys know that in France they have 35 hour working week and 5 week summer vacation. A typiclal trick is to work in 40 hrs weekly and have 10 weeks off a year. Call it socialism if you wish but it works. You only go round once.
8.7% The unemployment benefit is 50% of your previous salary, effectively more as lower tax rate kicks in. Thus many people are unemployed not against their will. Similarily, if US would have these benefits what would some people do? (hint = wouldnt want to go to work)
People who still like to go to work, like me, also love the system as they dont have to worry about being laid off. Peace of mind. Good thing.
This also works, the European economy grows currently faster than that of the US. Euro currency just hit the all time high against the dollar. On top of this our women are more generous if you know what I mean.
