They'd sell ten times more of these if it had a modern liquid-cooled engine instead of that old air-cooled lump.

(All figures manufacturer-claimed, because I couldn't find 2006/2007 S2R dyno runs)

Buell XB9SX:

Displacement: 984cc

Power: 92 HP

Torque: 95 Nm

Ducati Monster S2R:

Displacement: 992cc

Power: 95 HP

Torque: 94 Nm

So, Ducati does a "really good job", and Buells are underpowered?

"You're being funny right?"

Yes. It's an endangered form of humor known as "irony."

Re: To quote Gabe..

I'm not sure what the significance of revving to 9,000 rpm is. Could the experts (Sean, Seru, etc) tell me why that's a good thing?

Re: Ducati 1000 vs. Buell 1000

Sean, thanks for taking the time and effort to explain that.

Now, the existential question is - if Buell somehow managed to tweak his current engine to replicate those Ducati characteristics, would the "antique tractor motor" crowd pipe down?

Gen X is 1963-1978. Did you just squeak in under the wire?

Re: Thanks for that information.

Correction. "Generation X" is the pop-culture equivalent of Howe and Strauss's "13th Gen". They're the authorities, and they put it at 1961-1981.

You must be at the line - you've got a lot of Boomer in you.

On the not-so-bright side, sock puppetry will flourish now that it's free. Sportbikebandit returns!

Yep, kpaul was sportbikebandit (another of his "kfibs"). I figure he'll invent himself a bunch of new sockpuppets to agree with him.
