Nothing better on the track

I don't know much about this bike, but I can tell you that I have ridden a lot of bikes: owned, borrowed and test ridden and nothing I repeate nothing felt more natural to me or allowed me to go as quickly around the race track as a Ducati ST3 and 999.

They both felt very natural and I felt at one with them from the get go.

Re: Splash

I popped the cork an hour ago.

What's taking you so long?
Re: Engine Differences

Vegas sports books just tipped sideways from all the money going to the Bears.
Re: Splash

You dog nice to work virtually isn't it...I've been here since 7... would like to go home but I just checked the traffic map.. I think I have some more TPS reports to look at plus the latest cup holder design the kcup1000..

Re: Ducati 1000 vs. Buell 1000

Definitely! If you're going to hit something, LAY 'ER DOWN!!!
Re: To quote Gabe..

Sorry, k, but real-world riding impressions from average MOridians are inadmissable as evidence.
Re: Ducati 1000 vs. Buell 1000

Sean, thanks for taking the time and effort to explain that.

Now, the existential question is - if Buell somehow managed to tweak his current engine to replicate those Ducati characteristics, would the "antique tractor motor" crowd pipe down?
Re: Splash

It’s Friday. I usually have a beer or two during the weekly conference call at noon. Things go more smoothly that way…

…besides, with the headset I can listen to the call and still have two hands free to work the mouse and drink a beer at the same time.

Yeah, I’m pretty good at multitasking.
Oh, God, no.

That sucks.
Re: Engine Differences

Peyton Manning just killed himself.
Re: Thanks for that information.

Gen X is 1963-1978. Did you just squeak in under the wire?
Re: Thanks for that information.

Correction. "Generation X" is the pop-culture equivalent of Howe and Strauss's "13th Gen". They're the authorities, and they put it at 1961-1981.

You must be at the line - you've got a lot of Boomer in you.
I was waiting to see what the new bosses would do. Oh well...
Re: Cool Looking

Totally know what you mean. All Ducatis I've ridden take 1/2 hour to truly warm up. Isn't that incredible? It's true though. After 30 minutes it's like it becomes a completely different motorcycle, and it can really roar. This is especially true for Ducatis outfitted with aftermarket exhausts.

So much for air-cooling not being efficient. Maybe it keeps the bike too cool?

You know, when I bought my first Ducati, I actually was attracted to air cooling. I did not see it as a disadvantage at all. I perceived it to be simpler, easier to work on, and more reliable. I'd never had a water cooled bike. Of course, now that I've gone through quite a few water cooled bikes, my paraoia about water cooling has evaporated, and I now love both types. But I think the buyer of an air-cooled bike is not going to be worried about the performance restrictions which might accompany it. They will be more into the retro appearance, clean lines, simplicity, and perceived reliability.
Re: Nothing better on the track

There is got to be something to what gbrummett says when you see Bayliss beat the inline4s on the Ducati.

But there's a corollary to that. Remember Valencia? Bayliss and the v4, heck bayliss and anything is pretty bad ass. the inline-4 is dead.

v4 victory, ever see that movie with joey dunlop?
Re: Thanks for that information.

I'm sure he's had something in him........

(Oh, Come ON! You know you were waiting for somebody to say it!)
Duc me runnin' ! that's a beautiful bike!

The only thing that would be better is if there was a nice link on the bottom of each of MO's review pages with a compressed file with all the big wallpaper pics in it - ready to download in one shot.

That way, I could download that one file instead of doing the right click/save as shuffle all day. Know what I mean vern?

Buell's ad dept. is apparently shooting for the stars:

This is far more inline with every XB9 dyno I've seen. I can believe the S2R pulls 95 ponies though.
