A friend of mine got his ST4 brand new for about 10K, instead of the 13 or 14 they want because he waited for the new ones to come out. They always seem to have a few left over every year. Unless there's a drastic change from one model year to another, that seems to be a pretty reliable tactic for Italian and English bikes anyway.

Uh, there was nothing wrong with the 990s, dufus. They've gone back to the screamer motor because they have to maximize power with the smaller displacement and don't have to manage the massive amount of torque. So now they can have smaller spaces between the power pulses and still get good traction.
The GP6 990 was the most powerful motor in the paddock.
