The ultra-capacitor that the Russians developed for cold starting trucks is no good for sustained current. It was used in conjunction with a battery. It could be charged from the battery when the battery was too cold to provide high cranking current and then the capacitor could deliver it in a short burst as needed for starting. It's being developed in this country by KBi in Illinois.

Although nuclear power is needed as part of the mix, photovoltaics and windpower are the cleanest available sources and they have the advantage of being sources you can just install on your roof.

The GPR50 is pretty, but it just doesn't provide enough range/speed to be a practical commuter. Check www.21whells.com for how to build your own electric bike that does.
