Faster Movie Releases ... spread the word

Even better than the DVD is that the movie has been picked up for wider cinema distribution. Check out this press release from the director, find out if there are screenings in your area, and help spread the word.

Good luck with the film. I bought the DVD as soon as it came out and loved it. I have watched it three times already. It made me an instant MotoGP fan.

I'll be seeing the Chicago screening at Century Theater as well. Good venue.

Release of Faster Movie (MotoGP)

I saw previews of this film at the Seattle Cycle Show last winter. At the same time that the motor-centers of my brain made me stand and watch the preview three times (while the pleasure centers of my brain made me watch the preview three times while standing very close to the spokesmodel's cleavage), I was certain that the movie would never get a distributor.

I thought it was just too fringe for the movie business to take seriously. But it's very well done; Ewan McGregor (sp?) narrates and the camerawork is schweeet.

So I've ordered my DVD; when it comes Sarnali and I are going over to KPaul's to watch it. No, wait, that would be the sign of the apocalypse.

Do yourself a favor and see the film. Unless you flat-out don't like racing or sport bikes you'll really enjoy the movie.

There are great moments on and off the track between Rossi and Biaggi. The "pushing" incident at the (I believe) 2001 Suzuka GP is highlighted. Commentary from Kevin Schwantz and Wayne Rainey is great not to mention the excellent race footage of the two. Following Gary 'the slide king" McCoy is downright sad at times but he is involved in one of the funniest moments in the movie when talking with an apparently very emotional fan.

Skip all the normal motorcycle movie crap put out by the Hollywood big budgets and check out Faster for the real deal.

I bought the DVD from a vendor at Laguna Seca during the WSB races.

I agree: it's a really good movie.

Its definitely worth your time to see this movie. I bought the DVD when it became available. I've watched it more times than I can count and made all my friends watch it (even though none of them ride)

I couldn't agree more.

I have the added benefit of being a huge Rossi fan and an even bigger Biaa-ch-i hater so I really dug the movie.

It was great to see the two-strokes again.

Chris, I just ordered the DVD from the site. They claim 2-4 weeks for delivery. I am itching to see it. How long did it take for yours to arive?

I don't think any (sport) biker will be disappointed if they buy the dvd, but at the risk of being a whiner I've got a couple of (opionated) points to make:

1. It's kind of like a NASCAR film - crash footage seemed equal to race footage.

2. The part about John Hopkins wasn't very interesting - I thought the film would be more about 500GP racing, not what a shining star an American rider seemed to be when he was just a kid.

3. I watched it on my laptop with crummy speakers (no TV) so I may be wrong, but there didn't seem to be much in the way of cool 2-stroke exhaust noises.

I'm not trying to put anyone off buying it - I certainly feel it was worth the money - it's just that the previous comments seem to be just a tad over the top. I've rented videos of specific 500cc races several years ago, when Schwantz and Wayne Gardner were competing, that I thought were a lot more impressive - the crispness of the image seemed to be a lot better. On the other hand, hearing Rossi's opinion of what it was like to ride the 500 for the first time was pretty cool.

I hear you. I thought there was to much crash focus in the first half. More race footage would have been better. But, what I thought made up for it was the riders expressing themselves on what it's like to race MotoGP. Just like you said, Rossi describing his first ride on a 500 was cool. The interview with Rossi and Biaggi right after they had their little fisticuff in the stairwell was the best.

What are some of the other videos you mentioned? Might like to rent/buy them.
