Which would you rather face, Marine boot camp for six weeks, or six weeks in a maximum security prison, where you have a lot more to worry about than being yelled at by a drill instructor? Many alcoholics come from backgrounds of abuse, neglect, and other trauma. Drunk drivers should be incarcerated in a mental health facility where treatment is aimed not only at detoxification also toward emotional rehabiliation and self-esteem. Adding more trauma will only aggravate the illness and perpetuate the problem.
